Linguistics is a study of understanding the meaning of language. Since linguist is different from traditional ways of understanding language such as knowing the grammar and rules of language. It is very important because language is widely used in a human daily life. Hence language has become a part of being human, their usage is integral.
Linguists study the structures, rules and common of each language. When it is said that linguist is very different from old ways of understanding language is linguist is descriptive not prescriptive like they used to be in the older times.
In becoming a teacher, an English teacher, it is important to understand the role of linguists and becoming linguists. To be able to teach English better, a teacher should understand the language better than anyone else.
The main points in learning linguistics that is focusing in speech and language is to understand what is language; discuss and analyze the components of language; investigate the process and sequence of speech and language development; examine the relationships between language and children’s development, particularly cognitive, social and emotional development; and lastly discuss issues related to learning in schools context, particularly in relation to teaching, the curriculum and literacy.
In order to understand human and their way of communication, one must know the meaning of the tool used in communicating. The tool used is called language. Thus knowing the definition of it is futile. Language is an organized system of arbitrary signals and rule-governed structures. It is a means for communication.

Language is important to be learned by everyone because it is a mass of communication between human. Language learning should start during early stage of children because children are easy to acquire language compared to adult. Parents should focus and develop their children language acquisition so that they can acquire the language easily when they learn at school. Through language, children can connected to other people and it will help him/her to gain experiences that can be useful in their live. When they connected with people through language, the children living skill and social also can be improve. That is how language play a big role for children development.
