It is unfair and unethical for athletes to obtain advantages from drugs. The issue has gained prominence in the last 10 years as a result of the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative (BALCO) investigation in 2003, tell-all by former professional athletes and the Mitchell investigation into drugs in professional baseball. Performance enhancing drugs and steroids help athlete’s performance, such as improves batting speed, throwing and running ability. Athletes become stronger and able to train and play for longer period of time. As Kenny Rogers (baseball player) suggested, basically steroids can jump you a level or two. The average player can become a star, and the star player can become a superstar (Ethics & Behavior). This is not fair for the players
