Slavery was not illegal in the Unites States until after they thirteenth amendment was passed, therefore reparations would not be a fair justice to those who partook, because they were not committing a crime by having slaves work for them, as the government had no laws against slavery. Reparations would not be necessary, or fair to those now and days because, it was not their doing, as less than 4.8% of southern whites partook in slavery, about 1.4% of all whites in the country. Lastly, the slaves families did not go through the pain and agony that their ancestors went through, therefore why should those of us have to pay now for people just trying to get money because they feel discriminated against, because it doesn’t change the pain the …show more content…

Many just want to point the finger at others, because they feel they need to get justice for what their family members went through, or just the fact that they don’t want to be discriminated against, and feel this is a way that may make them seem “superior” instead of “inferior,” to whites. Like slavery, the Holocaust condemned a particular group, and had a main goal to kill as many Jews as they could, however they did not only kill Jews, they also killed homosexuals, Communists, etc., because they believed that Germans were the “dominant” power and believed that the Germans were the “master- race.” Although both of these events in history were morbid, reparations would not be the solution to these problems that happened in the past. Due to the fact that these events did happen so long ago, we as a country need to stop overstating that fact and move on and start fresh. We did not commit the gruesome acts that our ancestors in the past executed, so therefore we need to focus more on starting over and make sure that it never happens …show more content…

Reparations would psychologically help the family members of slaves get over their families torture and discrimination. Lastly, it would help minimize the fact that slaves were not paid for all their work, and they were forced into doing work, therefore it may allow them to feel better about their lives and the life that their family member would have
