Recommended: Impact of gender in sports

Why is the NBA more popular than the WNBA? The NBA is having great success and has popular ratings in america and all over across the world the while the WNBA is going nowhere fast since the WNBA league was established in 1997 But why is this still going on? Basketball is a sport that both men and women enjoy watching and cheering on their favorite team and most of all playing.

Basketball is the 3rd most popular sport in the world having about 2.3 billion fans in the world and both women and men can call themselves true fans and players of the game. But it still does not change the fact that basketball IS a male dominant sport , just like all the other major sports in the world like football and soccer. But even with all that being said the WNBA is the lesser between the two leagues. Also the WNBA season is much shorter than the NBA season, while the WNBA has a total of 34 games in the season with 17 home games and 17 away games and in the playoffs The first two rounds are single elimination games played on the higher ranking seed's home court. The semifinals and WNBA Finals are best of five series played in a 2-2-1 format, meaning the team with home-court advantage (better record) hosts games 1, 2, and 5 while their opponent hosts games 3
