Why Is Malala Yousafzai Important?

“I told myself, Malala, you have already faced death. This is your second life. Don’t be afraid - if you are afraid, you can’t move forward.” (Malala Yousafzai) Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani activist for education and the youngest-ever Nobel-Peace recipient. She was shot in 2012 by a Taliban gunman, but survived. Malala is a very bold figure because she continued spreading her beliefs on how education is for all - despite the receiving death threats from the Taliban, Malala continued going to school even though Talibans (who forbade females to go to school) were in the area and bombing schools, and when no one was willing to do so, Malala was willing to write a diary for BBC news and blog about life under Taliban rule.
Even after the Taliban had issued a death threat against Malala, she still continued to blog, and give speeches, even faced through this danger. “I don’t know why, but hearing I was being targeted did not worry me. It seemed to me that everybody knows they will die one day...if we believe in something greater than our lives, then our voices will only multiply ever if we are dead. The Quran says we should seek knowledge, study hard and learn the mysteries of our world." (Yousafzai 80) I consider this bold because she knew that it would be very dangerous for her if the Taliban found out that it was her writing the diary and blogging for BCC, but she also knew it was important she take a stand against the Taliban and let the world be informed of what is really going on, especially in the eyes of the victim.
