At the end of senior year, there is one major decision that can pave the way of the future. While many high school students choose to enter the workforce right after graduation, there are many benefits for those who choose to battle through school for a few more years. Going to college is an experience that everyone should go through, because it is a wise investment in oneself. College can be the beginning of a lifelong journey that opens many doors of opportunities such as: broadening social connections, expanding career options, and increasing future earning potential. A college degree is often required to obtain positions that offer larger salaries. Although recently a debate has sparked, about if going to college is really worth the cost of tuition. Depending on what level a student 's degree is, plays a major factor in the amount they can earn. The United States Census Bureau reported, “That individuals who achieve the following degree levels earned the following median annual salaries: Ph.D. 's, $100,000 or more; master 's $63,000; bachelor 's, $55,700; associate 's, $42,000; high school diploma, $32,500 (College Atlas).” This information implies that higher education does equal more money. Adults with only a high school diploma do not have many places to choose from for work. Mainly adults without a college degree end up working in fast food and retail. While an individual that obtains a bachelor 's degree in engineering can work in many different places, a few of them being: petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering, or computer engineering. With a college degree the amount of jobs offered will increase tremendously, giving the availability for an individual to be able to pick the occupation they want to work in. Attending college to seek a degree after high school is making a wise choice. While many may argue that it is a waste of money, it is a smart investment for a successful future.
