There's just something about the Cinderella tale. From her gentle spirit to her glittering glass slippers. These things make her one of the most cherished princesses of all time. I have always loved Cinderella for her inner beauty and kindness and for the powerful lessons her story teaches. The book Cinderella, originally written by Charles Perrault, is filled with timeless lessons that parents can teach their kids from all ages and backgrounds. These lessons have contributed to making Cinderella the classic that it is. Kindness is important to making a well rounded person, and no doubt Cinderella is the most kind princess of them all. Her kindness can sometimes make her seem like a pushover, seemingly unwilling to stand up for herself, when her evil step-mother and step-sisters are cruel and constantly ordering her around. That may sound silly but, there is something to be said for optimism. In the Disney animated movie Cinderella sings, “No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true.” This is a beautiful sentiment that carries much truth. Cinderella's heart was certainly grieving as her young life held much tragedy. First her dear mother died. Shortly after, her father remarries and she gets a new step-family who were filled with jealousy and anger, and lastly, the devastating loss of her father. With her father’s passing, she was forced by her step-family to become a servant in her own home, yet she never stopped working to achieve her dream. Cinderella lost everything as a child, which is enough reason to lose hope and give up.
