Most football fans see baseball as this lazy, laid back sport. Sometimes, it’s even referred to as a girl’s sport. On the other hand, they view football as the most physical sport. Often called a man’s game. The thing that these football fans don’t consider is the big picture. Baseball and football are both similar in that they have the best players in the world in their professional leagues. But, there are so many more factors that play into these two sports than what seems obvious to the eye. When it comes to the level of difficulty, baseball, rather than football, is the harder sport of the two to play professionally. Looking at football, it is easy to see that there is more physical contact. They can hit each other, they must wear heavy equipment, and the pace of the game is very fast. Football fans see the hard, brutal, physical contact and the frequent injuries. They also see how big and built these amazing athletes are, to a point where they would say something like: “Those guys are animals, they’re like superhuman.” Yes, in football, it is all about who is the strongest, who is the fastest, who can bench the most, etc. What they don’t take into perspective is the short sixteen game season of football, and a few more games if a team makes the playoffs. There aren't as many spots needed in baseball which makes it a little more easier and isn't time consuming such as wrestling is. Baseball is more like holding a pitch right and with the correct fluent arm motion. When wrestling is more like shooting a sweeping single and swiping the other leg out placing them on their back or stomach. Batting takes time to learn and lot of it. Its confusing if they drop their elbow on their swing and attack the ball with their hands it will take many reps to fix it. Baseball is where players get a rude awakening. No matter how amazing athletes are or think they are they always have bad technique somewhere. More than likely players will grow up playing that way. Although once they get a little higher it hits them, and it hits them hard. All those bad reps come and hit people by surprise when they got to restart from the beginning.
In college there are hated rivals that can’t stand each other. This causes college fans to have lots of pride in their teams. College stadiums also have student sections, which take the atmosphere on game day to the next level. College players know how the fans feel. This inspires them to play their hardest, and leave everything on the field to represent their school. In the NFL, instead of playing for a team because you want to represent them, players will play for teams who offer them the longest and largest contracts. Players hold out from participating in training camp because they want a bigger contract, and some even sit out games. The NFL seems to be more like a business, and geared towards making money. For most sports fans there is nothing like opening day and a baseball field. In recent years I have over heard several people say Baseball is not the National Pastime or National Game any longer. When I query these people the typical response is Football is our new National pastime/game. Frank Deford (Nov 7, 2012) a writer for Sports Illustrated said, "Baseball is what we used to be. Football is what we have become." I refuse to believe this based on my knowledge of both games. In this paper we will exam the facts and I would submit to you that Baseball is still the National Pastime/Game and it cannot be disputed.

Many people just assume that the sport of baseball is more difficult than softball, but don’t actually know the specific parts of each of the two.
