Why Is Aksum Important

Aksum Aksum, an Influential kingdom that rose to power around 100 A.D. . Aksum was located on the Horn of Africa. Some called it one of the most influential Kingdom in the world. It was a world trading center, not only for traders by land but also traders by sea. It was one of the world's longest lasting empires from 100 A.D. all the way to 1975, where it finally collapsed because of the king's death. Unlike any other Kingdom, Aksum was one of the best placed trading post. With many different cultures and people from different kingdoms and empires it was hard to make trades, because of different currencies. However Aksumite rulers made it much easier to trade by minting their own Aksumite currency. This minting created one of the world's first currencies, and later influenced other countries to do the same. On top of creating one of the first currencies, Aksum minted different values of currency this included gold, silver and bronze coins. Bronze being a $5, a silver being a $20 bill; and lastly the gold being a $100 bill. It was like a credit card. This was a stepping stone that helped turn the olden world into the modern world today. In my paper there weren’t cultural changes; however there were many political differences, instantly I felt a link between my paper and the essential question. Two examples of this are when Caesar is ruling, the first being the dictatorship. Caesar's dictatorship was the biggest political difference against the senate. He was making absurd rules and later began to be perceived as a cocky person. The second is his constant quest for war. Caesar was always looking to gain new land. He used his army like a roll of toilet paper, throwing men out to die to expand the empire. This lead to the political difference between Caesar and the senate.
