Making life decisions and planning at such a young age always made me wonder. When I was a kid, I used to watch a Japanese cartoon show called ‘Doraemon’ and seeing those impossible futuristic devices made me believe that one day, I would be inventing them. Despite my childish dream, I am still determined to be among those inventors that could awe the world using my imagination to create something impossible into a possible one.
My uncle who is an engineer used to say that engineers need to be committed with their work. Even though they need to dedicate most of the time handling projects, it all comes back to passion and I believe I have the will to chase this wonderful dream. My career goal is to become an Auto Mechanic and Shop Owner. Being an Auto Mechanic intends to have a variety of skills such as: having knowledge on a variety of knowledge with different car companies, the ability to diagnose the problem quickly and repair it fast and to perfection. They also have to have knowledge on every car part and currently be great with electronics. A shop owner has to be good with business, numbers, customer relationships, have the knowledge of an Auto Mechanic. The talents that I have to become an Auto Mechanic and a shop owner are that I have basic knowledge on cars, their parts, where to get cheap parts, good speaking skills. I’m beginning to be able to do a diagnosis on a car, I’m also good at electronics. I also have a few mentors helping me out.
I am fully aware that yours curriculum requires that I summon all my resources and I aver that I have the necessary commitment, intelligence and stamina to look forward to do it all. When I look at how mankind has evolved over years, it amazes me. My career goal is to become a mechanical engineer. I aspire to become skilled enough to create mechanics, which will improve people’s lives. I come from a very hardworking family. As the first son,a lot is expected from me to set good examples for my younger brothers.
I chose chemical engineering as the career I wished to research. This career interested me the most mainly because I found out that this career involves two of my favorite subjects, which include both math and science. I have had the discussion of what I wanted to major with several different people and each telling me that engineering is a good paying job. I found out that engineers don't always stay in a office but they tend to get out and explore to perform mathematical or scientific research. Sometimes engineers are sent to different parts around the world and I find traveling being something I have always wanted to do. Chemical engineers work with chemicals to conduct research and design chemical manufacturing processes. I chose this career knowing that I would be doing some of the things I adore doing and that’s looking at complex problems hoping I can find the solution them.
Being the top student in my secondary school (with 85.5%), I got admitted into Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering at MIT, Ujjain. My curriculum enhanced my knowledge in Microprocessors, Digital Signal Processing, and Analytical and Industrial Instrumentation. Engineering has been a key interest of mine since childhood. While still in grade school I enjoyed listening to my father, an electrical engineer, teach me about advances in technology, and was always eager to hear more. I was introduced to my first computer at the age of five, and have loved interacting with them ever since. My decision to study engineering as a career was no surprise to those who knew me.
The knowledge acquired in schools and colleges, I believe is not an education, but the means to it. It is this belief that made me a student to the end of my days, the obvious direction being curiosity to wards exploration.
During my school and college, I was very sharp in analytical problem solving and this quality made physics and mathematics one of my favorite subjects. I was very keen on performing the physics practical. My inclination towards physics and mathematics compelled to choose electrical engineering for my Bachelors degree.
Right from my school days, I have always shown a high degree of competence and interest in subjects like Mathematics and Science. I scored 88 marks in Mathematics & 84 marks in Science in Secondary School (10th standard). It was with this motivation that I took up the Science stream in my senior school. I completed my senior school with first class grade. My fairly good performance at secondary and senior school gave me the confidence to take Engineering as my career.

I have always admired my father as a civil engineer and his hard work and struggles throughout his life; He has always been a role model for me. I am applying for a Masters in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Solid Mechanics to expand on my study of and experience with materials. I have thoroughly enjoyed studying Materials Science and Engineering as an undergraduate at UCLA. I now look forward to moving into graduate study in a field of engineering with a related, but different perspective. Materials Science and Engineering has allowed me to explore both materials and other fields within engineering, contributing to my strong interest in combining my study of Materials Science and Engineering with Mechanical Engineering. Mechanical engineering is a type of engineering which applies principles of physics and material science for the purpose of analyzing, designing, manufacturing and maintaining of mechanical systems (Gorp, 2005). It is involved with the production and usage of mechanical power in the operation of various machines and tools. Mechanical engineering is considered to be the most diverse engineering and has its breadth derived from the need to design tools and manufacture products which range from small individual parts to large systems. Mechanical engineering, as thought of by scholars, is related to Aerospace engineering, Manufacturing and Mechanical engineering (Van et al, 2011).
Why do I want to be a civil engineer? Well, I am mainly interested in becoming a civil engineer for two reasons. My first reason is that I want to see something I designed on paper become real. I have always thought that was the coolest thing about engineers: they can design things like skyscrapers on paper, and then have them built because they are free of all errors. My second reason is just me wanting to have a career and not just a regular job at a factory, where there is always the chance of jobs being offshored or done by machines instead of people.
