No matter what I decide to do with the rest of my life, I want to make a difference and leave the most positive impact on the world that I possibly can. In order to do this, I have been working hard academically, and I have been participating in numerous extra-curricular activities inside and outside of school. One area that has really helped me in my ability to reach my goal would be academics. Throughout high school, I have taken more difficult courses in an effort to learn as much as I can. Most of my classes are AP classes and dual credit classes. These classes have a much more accelerated curriculum and have required a lot of hard work for me to be successful. Taking these opportunities in competitions and the classroom has required a great deal of dedication on my part. Proof of my dedication to academic excellence can be seen through my accomplishments and awards. I received the class awards for both Physics and Accounting, and have also been a part of the Number Sense Team went to the Regional UIL Tournament for 2 years in a row. The accomplishment I am most proud of is my acceptance into my school's chapter of the National Honor's Society. My membership holds me to a higher standard of excellence that I use as motivation to continue striving for my ultimate goal of having a positive impact on society. My extra-curricular activities have also aided me in pursuing my goal. My participation in Student Council and other organizations in which I am an officer has taught me valuable, life-long lessons in leadership and collaboration. It reminds me of just how fortunate I am to be able to help others, despite the sacrifice of time it often takes to do so. The overall sacrifice of participating in these activities inside and outside of school has been well worth it. I have learned so many life lessons and have greatly improved my own character along the way, helping me to pave the way to reaching my future goal. In all, I have learned to accomplish my goals and work towards my dreams in life. An important aspect of reaching my future goal of having an impact on the world involves deciding how I am going to make this impact. I have been researching the subject for months and, taking into account my own strengths and passions and have decided to act. I participated in a program at Oklahoma State University called Discover Architecture over this past summer, and it gave me an insightful look into the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, architectural engineering, and construction science. Through this experience I have discovered that I do have a passion and aptitude for both architecture and engineering fields, and I have looked further into finding universities with these
I endeavor to obtain excellence in my academics; I wish to exemplify scholarship by constantly asking the whys and hows of things. I will not let a bad grade define who I am as a student or who I will become. I also want to take the most challenging classes available, not because it will look good on my college application, but because I genuinely love the concept of learning and discovering new things. Education doesn’t end after high school, so I plan to attend university, eager to attain the knowledge to better understand my world: and expand it.
Being proud of something can have many different meanings to people, but to me, it means to be honored and to be glad that something happened. I am proud about many things in my life but one thing I am extremely proud of is my induction into the NJHS. NJHS stands for National Junior Honor Society.
I feel that the importance of service is to help a person in need because you could change someone's life, not because you feel that you need to. People who love what they are doing are the people who effect everything around them.Service has impacted my life because it makes me a better person. My family feels the impact, the community feels the impact, even servicing for a few hours a week affects the people around you. It makes the community a better place to live.
Growing up, my parents never expected perfection but expected that I try to accomplish my best. The effort I’ve put forth in learning has been reflected in my grades throughout my high school career. I’ve entered myself in vigorous course work such as AP Government and AP English to become well prepared for my college career, all while maintaining a 4.4 grade point average this year. Not only do I engage in AP classes, but up until this year I had no study halls. I wanted my day to be packed full of interesting classes that I would enjoy learning about. My grades and choice of classes prove the effort that I put forth in my learning. Working hard now can only pay off in the future. Learning now creates a well-rounded human being. Working to learn is why I am so dedicated to my studies now.
It is with great honor to be considered among the students of my class to be a part of the National Honor Society. the National Honor Society (NHS) has been an organization that has displayed great interest to me, with new leadership skills and responsibilities to take upon. I believe that I hold the leadership skills, service, character, and academic excellence that is required to become a member of the National Honor Society.
The National Honors Society is based off of four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Character and Service. These are all characteristics a member of the National Honor Society should exhibit. I believe that I possess all of these characteristics and should be given the chance of becoming a NHS member. This has also been a goal of mine since freshman year and would mean a lot to me to be apart of such a prestigious organization.
When my English teacher first spoke about the National Honors Society, I was eager to find more information about it. I highly praise and admire everything it emblematizes; I hope to be able to contribute everything I have to offer. I believe I can be a notable member of NHS for my school, Saddleback High School, and my community. Finding three weaknesses and three strengths about myself was a stirring challenge. Alike everyone, I have weaknesses and strengths, but finding a way to explain them was difficult to me.
As a student in Greater Lawrence Technical school my ultimate goal was to become a member of National Honors Society. From the very start I knew I had the potential to become who I wanted to be. Being seen as a person who can be National honors society member has made me so happy and realize I can really go for more in life! They sky's the limit. I always had honor roll and wanted to push myself for more than what I knew I could do. I asked teachers and guidance counselors how to get into NHS and if they believed I was eligible for National Honor Society. They said with your outstanding character, motivation and dedication to help others is how!
Reaching my goal in becoming a member of the National Honor Society would give me a great sense of pride both academically and personally. As a person I have ambition, academic excellence, and great decision making skills to offer to the NHS. For example, ever since I was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society I have been striving to do my academic best for a chance to be in the NHS. I show this with my 4.0 G.P.A that I have held for six straight quarters. This shows my determination to be a part of an organization that will better this community for future generations to come. In addition, I would be very enthusiastic about gaining new experience in leadership, community activities, and co-curricular activities. When I was a part of National Junior Honor Society I accepted as many opportunities as I could; I participated in activities such as: spray painting recycling trash cans, painting recycling boxes, sorting paper after school, and ringing the bell at Christmas time for the Salvation Army while singing Christmas carols. Furthermore, I should be a National Honor Society member because I make the right choices in everyday life. Many students all over the country make the choice to use drugs, alcohol, or tobacco, but I can honestly say that I do not use any of these substances. Not only are these a danger to personal health but they are a danger to the health of the people around them, and every person making the choice to stay away from these substances keeps the society a little safer and a little healthier. Overall, my academic excellence, ambition, and ability to make impeccable decisions show that I would be an exceptional member of the NHS.
I am honored to be among the exemplary students who are being considered to be accepted to National Honor Society. I learned while researching National Honor Society that it calls upon students with outstanding academics and character. Throughout my life I believe I have demonstrated these qualities along with leadership from my participation in school, teams, and clubs.
William Jennings Bryan was quoted in saying, “Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is matter of choice. It is not something to be waited for, but rather something to be achieved.” Bryan and I see eye to eye, for I also believe destiny is something you control. I want to be accepted into the National Honor Society so I can indeed steer my destiny towards a favorable pathway. The NHS can provide me with yet another way I can help others through numerous service projects. In addition, it will teach me to be a stronger leader and allow useful experiences to prevail. These experiences will be put to great use in future jobs and projects in the school or in the community. Lastly, NHS will be placed into an array of sun beams to happily bask in, because I will not let anyone, including myself, slack off. These polished characteristics will hopefully help me in the future by gaining acceptance into a top college and creating plentiful complimentary job opportunities.
The National Honors Society is defined as an organization that acknowledges remarkable high school students who exemplify leadership, character, and service. But possessing these qualities, goes beyond a definition. It is a person: one who upholds their own moral convictions, is always willing to help others, and tries to be an integral part of the community. I believe I work to define myself as this kind of person daily and would be a valuable member to the National Honors Society.
When I think of the National Honor Society, I think of a group of hard-working, talented students dedicated to their future and their community. In my high school career, National Honor Society members have always been people to look up to, not only for their status, but for everything it stands for.
Being chosen by my teachers and peers to be a member in the National Honor Society would be a great honor for me. I hope to prove myself to be a good example for those who need help. I feel that being a member would greatly benefit my character and scholastic abilities. After graduating high school, I plan on joining the Air Force and then attend a four year university. I would like to go into business and one day become a pharmaceutical representative. I will need to be able to be a leader and help out my peers when needed. My extracurricular and academic activities have helped mold me into a person with character and good qualities. These qualities--respect, humility, kindness, ambition, appreciation for diversity and collaboration, and courage--have not come without valuable failures and lessons. I can continue to develop these qualities and build upon these lessons as I go forward with my university goals and the desire I have to enter the healthcare profession as a nurse. I am able to look beyond the exciting, glamorous parts of both and see that there will be lots of hard work and difficulty. I am ready to face those challenges and do my best and give my all.
