Education has always been an important part of my family. My mother being a school teacher has always encouraged me to continue my education after high school by going to college. I feel I have always made academics a priority in my life. My hopes are that by continuing my education through college, I can recieve a career where I benefit both my community and my family. After graduating I plan to attend Tennessee Technology University in the fall of 2017. I will major in Physical Education and Health Science with a focus in Pre-Occupational Therapy. I have decided I would like to be an Occupational Therapist and work at the nursing home after receiving my certification. I want to create a positive environment where seniors and other disabled patients can come and work on improving their functional skills in hopes that they may return home and live independently. My goal is to care for the senior citizens of Overton County to the best of my ability. Investing in my future will be an investment into the Overton County Health and Rehab Center where I plan to serve. I can also contribute to the community by mentoring other students who have an interest in health related careers. I had a difficult time finding someone who would allow me to observe them at multiple medical clinics and rehab facilities. I am extremely thankful that the Overton County Health and Rehab Center allowed me to learn by observing their Occupational Therapist. My other goal in life is to be a wife and mother. I want to have a career that allows me to see my children grow while contributing to my family’s finances. I want to be a positive example for my future children by continuing my education and working hard in everything I do.
