It’s that time of the year… September is here and beautiful doves fly by every afternoon. Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! There goes an illegal hunter. Thats a Game Warden’s job to catch those kind of hunters. When seeking a career as a game warden a person should look at aspects such as ones responsibility, necessary skills, work conditions, salary, and its prospects; just as important is to seek out the best education such as that offered at The University of Texas Pan American. (UTPA). UTPA has a very good program for biology. Game wardens are very important because without them Texas would be a mess and some animals would probably become extinct by now with all those poachers out there being selfish and killing animals for money or for bragging rights. When working as a game warden you will never know what's going your way. They can station you anywhere they want, or if they need help in a certain state. The applicant must be willing and able to accept assignment anywhere in the state of Texas. The applicant must be able to work state and federal holidays, work from the hours of 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. with no other day off other than Saturday and Sunday are subject to call 24 hours a day seven days a week. It can be extremely hot or extremely cold. But, the money would be worth the job. “As of 2011 average hourly pay for a fish and game warden in the United States was 26.77an hour, and the average annual income was 55,670 a year.” It also includes paid vacation, sick time, and all holiday. wardens also have insurance, which covers health, vision, and dental. it will also cover your whole
