There should be little homework is because it may be too hard, you were already at school, and because it is too much and won’t help a lot. The first reason there should be little homework is that it may be too hard. It may be too hard because say if you a lot of homework in math and you had no clue of what you were doing and had no time to ask questions. Then when you do homework you have no idea of what to do. So eventually you will get frustrated because you can't finish. In New York Times it says “first graders and kindergartners working, on average, for 25 to 30 minutes a night.”(Kj Dell’Antonia) Kindergarteners are supposed to have homework that takes the maximum of 10 minutes, not 25 and 30 minutes. There is no point of homework because you already went to school. School is about 7 hours so you had a lot of burden from that time.Though when you get back from school you have more burden because there is a lot of homework “ they require time to rest and take their minds off school work. A problem with elementary students having homework is that their parents end up doing it just to get it over with. According to today.com there was a rule established by the National Education Association that limits the amount of homework any age kid, especially elementary should have to do. This is called “the 10 minute rule.” Kindergarten students should not get homework but first graders gets 10 minutes, second graders gets 20 and so on. This rule has been broken by teachers giving kindergarten students almost as much homework as a third grader should have. Because this rule is so often broken, parents are forced to step in and help their kids so they don’t look back on their life as all I did was homework.

Have you ever wanted to just shred up your homework or throw it out the window and have no consequences? Kids are assigned daily homework from the time they start kindergarten at the ripe young age of five. Is it really necessary? Does it even help better learning or even higher test scores? The amount of homework we do wastes time, money, paper, and trees because it’s practically the exact same thing we did in class that day. Homework causes kid’s and teen’s frustration, tiredness, little time for other activities and possibly even a loss of interest in their education.
