High school students should be getting paid for getting good grades because it could encourage students to study more, try harder in school, and stay out of trouble. The majority of students now don’t have the thirst for knowledge that the past generations had. Today many freshmen do not go on to graduate high school, this is because they have a lack of motivation. Going school to school and getting good grades used to ensure you success in life. Now someone who completes high school and even gets a college degree could end up working the same job as someone who doesn't. This can lower a student’s motivation to go to school, but as history has proven, money is a great motivator.

There are several possible reasons for why a student to not try their best in school. The main reason being that having straight A’s does not guarantee you the job you want. Some might say that it is the student's fault for not applying him of herself in the classroom and should want to learn.
