There are some things a sixteen year old simply is not equiped for, and voting is one of them. At the young age of sixteen we are not yet fully grown, our bodies and brains are still developing and our hormones are running wild. If we lowered the voting age to sixteen would we also let our teens drink or join the military and send them off to war? Voting is a huge responsability, far to large to place on the shoulders of children who should be concerned with their school work and just barely entering into the world of dating.
At sixteen years old i hardly knew what was best for me, let alone what was best for our whole country. I think its great that there are teenagers who are interested in politics however i do not believe letting them vote
Voting is an opportunity given to Americans. As Americans we live in a democracy. Americans live in a democracy that is subjected to vote; a democracy where people have fought for the right to vote on many situations and for the rights of Americans to not be infringed. However, sometimes people just do not vote. Perhaps, reason being is some Americans are not familiar with the background of America and where voting all started. Maybe, some Americans think it all boils down to the electoral votes and their vote simply is not significant. Maybe, it could be that they possibly do not care for politics and do not intend on involving themselves around something they do not understand. There are many reasons why Americans choose to vote and many reasons why Americans choose not to vote.
In America, political candidates go against one another in a process known as an election in which citizens vote for the next person who "best" fits the position. In addition, there are various amounts of debates on whether a citizen should be compelled to vote. Although some argue if citizens should be required by law to vote, there are exceeding an amount of disadvantages.

In conclusion when all is said and done I, personally would like to say the voting age lowered to sixteen for many of the reasons above. There will be many people opposing this movement but I think it is time for the youth of Canada to be heard and if they wish they should have the opportunity to vote and express their opinions and choices.

What most of these new adults fail to realize, is that their government depends on them to vote and elect new leaders to represent their country. I also think that the voting age should change because it would give the 16 year olds a reason to have pride of their country. We make bad decisions making just like adults do. We live in this country just like adults do. For example, say one day we choose a bad president, say he changes everything about the country we live in.The adults and the 16 year olds would have to change the way they have lived in the past and become more adapt to the new changes in their country. The adults are not in this alone. Whatever happens to the country about bad decisions making they are dragging in the 16 year olds that could not make any decisions for themselves.
As voter turnout flucuates upwards and otherwise, we as americans are forced to consider the following; whether to keep the minimum age of 18, or lower it to 16. While there are potential issues with lowering the age, there are also ways we could benefit, such as giving more citizens a say in the way society is managed. Lowering the voting age would also allow for young people to balance the ages of voting citizens. A possible downside to lowering the age could be that, at an earlier age than normal, people may get discouraged about politics, and stop voting altogether.
Lowering the voting age to 16 will allow for a higher voting percenting from the younger audiance. Young children learn more about todays politics from government classes to know who they want to vote for. Denying youth the right to vote isn’t the same as denying women or racial minorities, according to opponents, since in a few years young people will grow up and be able to vote. Why go through the trouble to lower the age to 16 when after two years they’ll be able to vote anyways? Were it that simple, then perhaps, but it isn’t. Would it be acceptable to limit the right to vote to those with a certain income, reasoning that it is a flexible standard, those will less income must only work harder or wait till they too make enough to vote? No it wouldn’t. Voters vote based on their individual circumstances, when those circumstances change often so do their voting habits. The concerns of a 14-year-old are different than that of a 24-year-old, just as the concerns of a poor man differ from that of a rich man. The beliefs and priorities of 16-year-olds as a class are unique to them; we cannot expect former 16-year-olds to have as accurate a perspective as those who are currently that age. Many listen to teenagers. but do not take in their views, or consider their opinions. This has to change. It is the teenagers who are the next generation. generation who could change the country for better or for worse.
