Pearl Harbor
“December 7 1941, A date which will live in infamy.” This is a quote said by our 32nd president, Franklin D Roosevelt. Infamy means “The state of being well known for some bad quality or deed.” and this date is the exact definition for infamy. Pearl Harbor, Oahu was the heart of our military and Naval Bases, and on December 7 1941 was the day Japan decided to attack and kill thousands of innocents. Once you hear this shocking attack, you will understand why this date will live in infamy forever. Why did Japan attack? What happened during the attack? And how did we fight back?

Why Japan Attacked
Japan had a plan. There plan was to expand their country in Asia and take up half of it. So, China contacted America because they did not want this, so then America started sending military supplies to China and other countries to help Japan stop. Japan saw this as a threat and in return they attacked. The other reason on why Japan attacked was because the U.S. cut off the exports to Japan. Our allies who helped us with this war was Britain, France, and Russia. Our first plan was to start sending military equipment to China so they could help stop the expansion in Asia. Next, on December 21, 1941 only 2 weeks after the attack on Pearl Harbor president Franklin Roosevelt summoned his armed forces commanders to the White House to demand a bombing raid on Japan as soon as possible. Finally the day came and we went and attacked Japan. On the bombs they wrote all the names of the people who died and put the metals of the people in the army who died in Pearl Harbor. The attack was successful and we had revenge on Japan. It turns out Japan wasn’t as successful with their plan as they wanted it to be because even after that heartbreaking attack, we still were strong and fought
