Islam spread so quickly because of a glut of skilled military manpower and the exhaustion of the Byzantine and Sassanid Empires. If Islamic people had a skilled military with a lot of manpower that could easily take down an empire in a heartbeat. The Byzantine and Sassanid Empires would also get too tired. They wouldn’t want to keep fighting, that would bring down their numbers in their armies.

For example, “Whoever killed a human being, except as punishment for murder or other villainy..., shall be deemed as killing all mankind; and... whoever saved a human life shall be deemed as saving all mankind.” This meant that people in the community who saved a life would be praised for saving it, but if they killed a life then they would be severely punished. The town of Mecca was the birthplace of Islam, at first the leaders of the city refused the changing of this new religion and forced Muhammad to leave. Muhammad returned and preached to the people about what he had heard, that there is only one god. Islam spread quickly for two main reasons they are the message and military conquest. For example, the spread of Islam to the Byzantines and the Persians. The other caliphs (Umar, Uthman and Ali) expanded the Islamic empire rapidly and grew faster than any other religion. The Muslims conquered a massive amount of land from the Indus River, across North Africa and into Spain. There were many factors that helped Islam succeed; for example, people would rather fight for God and their salvation instead of fighting for a king, the use of military force by the Muslims and how easy it was to convert to Islam.

Why and how did Islam spread so quickly? I will give three reasons to answer this question. One answer is because of the large trading happening, two is that muslims are protected by Islam, three is because of the religion Muhammad created was attractive to people.
Because of Islam’s holy book, The Qur’an revolved a lot around the sacred language, Arabic, which was very beneficial for trade. Muhammad started off with very few followers but as the faith of Allah started to spread, he gained more followers and he became a threat to Mecca’s rulers. As mentioned in World Civilization, “in 622 Muhammad left Mecca for Medina where his skilled leadership brought new followers.” In Medina, Muhammad became the religious authority in the area and he used this power to conquer Mecca, a holy place for Islamic believers. By the time of his death, he was able to have created a religious empire that controlled all of the Arabian Peninsula.

Islam stands for harmony and perfectibility with an unmatched depth and breadth of scope that comprises all aspects of spirit and life. It knows all the roads that lead to all the happiness and blessing. It does not set man into gods place. Islam vindicates men unique nature and all other living creatures, that is special and he created with lofty calling them his own. It can replace their inequities and contradictions with a more universal, more perfect and powerful idea.
