War And Conflict Essay From the Spanish-American war through WWII, America has given many excuses for their actions. There are many events that have happened between these wars that have led them to where they are today as a world power. America has gained power economically, politically, and militarily through these time periods and have earned their role as a leading country. So, how did America justify their actions and rise as a world power? America has justified its rise as a world power from the Spanish-American War through World War II by saying other countries needed their help, other countries should be more like America, America was more superior, democracy was the best, and by saying America did the best thing for either themselves …show more content…

These events have helped America become a leading power in the world even today. America had started its rise in the SPAM War when they were trying to help Cuba get free from Spain. Then America forced the Philippines into American culture and democracy because they thought it was their responsibility to educate the uncivilized places, which led to the Filipino Rebellion. After that was WWI and the Treaty of Versailles, which let America become an influence in decisions, gave them more land, and helped America grow stronger. The Americans at the Homefront helped the war drastically and strengthened the economy. Lastly, the Manhattan Project showed Americas new technological abilities and opened up a new future for war. These events have made a huge impact on America’s power worldwide. Although they have justified their actions, America didn’t always do the right thing to earn their spot as a world leader. For Example, after WWI and the attack on Pearl Harbor, America was suspicious of the Japanese. They locked them away in internment camps because they thought they were spies or saboteurs. Additionally, America forced the Philippines to adopt a new culture. Also, America killed more or less than 200,000 people when they bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki, unlike Japan who only killed only around 2,500 people at Pearl Harbor. So, did America fairly earn their spot as one of the worlds leaders? Do they deserve to be where they are
