Why Are Professional Athletes Overpaid

Professional athletes have very hard jobs and people are complaining that they get paid too much. Professional athletes deserve to get paid as much as they do because they work their whole lives to get to the professional level, the industry they are in makes a ton of money, and the reason they make so much money is because we pay to watch them play. They deserve to make the amount of money they make because the things they have to do to get to that level are insane. They are the best in the world at what they do. A lot of athletes would quit if their salaries were reduced as we’ve seen with the various strikes in all four major US professional sports leagues.
There isn’t one professional athlete out there that hasn’t spent their whole life practicing and playing their sport. Nowadays no one gets to the professional level without dedicating every day of the year to working towards it. Think about all of the kids out there that say they want to be sport players when they grow up. Only one percent of them put the work in to make it happen and those one percent deserve the big time money after all those extra hours of practice they put in. Professional sports leagues make tons of money from sponsors, fans, TV stations, and many other sources. If millions of people watched people sit at a desk and do paperwork every day, then those people would be the ones making the money. Last century when professional leagues started forming players played for very little pay before people started paying attention to them. Once people started caring about them they started the leagues made more money which resulted in much higher salaries for the players. It’s really just entertainment in the end just like TV shows. The more people that watch, the more money the industry
