I was five years old then, and my father wanted to retire from coaching baseball to spend more time with me, so we moved out here so my mother could work and my father could spend his time raising me. This move helped me have an easier time as I grew up, because I still got to see my mother every day when she came home from work and my father was now always around instead of being gone for multiple days at a time. From the moment “When Calls the Heart” premiered on the Hallmark Channel, I was captivated with this depiction of what many would call a “bygone era.” However, at that time I only knew it was based on one of my all-time favorite book series and starred a long-time favorite actress, Lori Loughlin. It was only as the second season of the show loomed before me that I discovered the creative mastermind behind this successful show--Brian Bird. I was utterly unaware of the colossal force that the fans of the show (called Hearties) wield in this family-friendly, thriving environment, but as I began to comprehend Brian’s fervor and enthusiasm through their eyes, I became completely entranced with everything this man does. I wrote for my high school paper and was the News Editor for two years. I helped behind the scenes for the high school television station and looking back it was a passion I wish I followed.
