Freedomworks is a conservative/ libertarian lobby that was founded in 1984. It was originally named Citizens for a Sound Economy. Matt Kibbe is the president and CEO of FreedomWorks. He has been a member of FreedomWorks for over seventeen years and is an economist by training. He is also well-respected national public policy expert, bestselling author, and political commentator. FreedomWorks prides themselves on being a grassroots lobby. Their views mostly align with the views of the conservative/ Republican party. On their website, FreedomWorks outlines the main reasons why they are against government health care, specifically Obamacare, in the following manner: “ObamaCare is proving to be an unmitigated disaster for the American people, raising insurance premiums and costing millions the coverage Obama promised they could keep. The law unfairly redistributes wealth from the young to the old, selling out America’s future for the sake of another costly entitlement. We need real health care reform, not a government takeover. They believed ObamaCare would be detrimental to society because it would cause insurance premiums to go up for everyone. They also contended that ObamaCare was faulty as it didn’t do anything to hold down costs which will be a particular burden to small business owners. They also state that Americans want health care reforms that strengthen the doctor-patient relationship and cut healthcare costs, not increase them and cause the previous relationship to diminish (“FreedomWorks Decries Hostile Government Take Over of Nation's Health Care."). Also in response to ObamaCare, FreedomWorks created a website titled, NoHeathCareReconciliation.com. This website was created to give the public a voice on the matter of government health care. FreedomWorks was especially upset with a budget reconciliation which allows the senate to move quickly on crucial matters that affect the federal government. The reconciliation violates the 2009 DeMint Amendment which requires 60 votes in the Senate to pass any proposed health care legislation that has the effect of preventing Americans from keeping their current health care plan ("FreedomWorks Launches No Health Care Reconciliation Site, Gives Grassroots a Voice on ObamaCare Showdown.").
