What personal qualities does Lincoln and Lee share? They both share the patriotic mindset and both share solidarity. “ as an American Citizen I take great pride in my country, her prosperity and institutions. This is from letter to his son by Robert Lee this show the love for this country. The differences that Lincoln and Lee had were they made their choices from different places. Lincoln made his choices from his head and Lee made choices from his heart. Me personally i will trust a man that makes choices with his heart over his head because I believe the heart is truer than the head.
The best presidents that the United states has ever seen have to have been Abe Lincoln or George Washington. They were both loyal and cared about their country. George Washington founded the base for our beautiful country that we live in to this day. Abe Lincoln put a stop to slavery during his presidency before he was shot in the back of the head and murdered in the Ford Theater. They both put a lot of time and effort into building our country up. George Washington was an Army general and fought in many hard battles in the cold and across rivers and lakes. Both presidents were very out spoken. They both had many ideas of what was right and wrong and what needed to be changed or needed in the country. Lincoln wasn’t too out in the public about how he would get votes, but it has been said that he would but some of his votes Jackson on the other hand had a spoils system where he, only allowed people with his similar beliefs take position in the government.
No matter how much something can differ some characteristics are shared. As strange as it sounds it’s very true, both Grant and Lee are two different yet similar people. As these two fights for what they believe in, though their beliefs are different they share some qualities. Ulysses S. Grant wanted the nation to expand and look forward towards the future. Robert E. The Civil War was not a little thing it was a huge thing that a lot of families suffered from. Lincoln has the view of I want everyone to get along and look at the bright side of this and Lee has the pessimistic view of this whole war. Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt were both effective peacemakers, but Lincoln focused on creating peace in America while Theodore Roosevelt focused on foreign countries. On January 1, 1863, he issued the Emancipation Proclamation that changed the war into a battle for freedom and declared forever free those slaves within the Confederacy. That November, Lincoln gave his famous Gettysburg Address, which stated how a country must be dedicated to human freedom in order to survive. He dedicated the battlefield to the soldiers who had perished, and called on the living to finish the task the dead soldiers had begun. (Donald, 1995) Lincoln believed that democracy could be a lasting form of government. He showed a nobility of character that had worldwide appeal, and he was a man of great integrity. However, Lincoln was not only the 16th president of the United States, he was an American hero. Lincoln was a well-rounded individual and he had numerous outstanding qualities. However, it is important to remember that Lincoln also led a private life, complete with close friends and family.
The two most discussed assassinations out of the four within the position of the United States President are that of Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. There are many similarities between the two and there are also some differences. There are many similarities associated with the assassination of Lincoln and Kennedy. They were both assassinated on the same day, and the men that were caught for the crime were born a century apart from each other and they were both killed before their trials. A difference between the two men is Lincoln was poor and worked his way to the top and Kennedy was born into a wealthy family in which his father was a large political figure. Both men had different struggles but they were similar in many ways.
When comparing two leaders, people tend to look at the characteristics, or leadership, traits that the person has. Even if the two people seem like an unlikely pair, it is the traits that prove the similarities. Courage, confidence and initiative are traits that both Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth President of the United States, and Rosa Parks, a civil rights activist, demonstrated during their time of leadership.
