I believe that a lot of words can describe me such as perseverance, courage, honest, believe and confidence. To me perseverance means to never give up no matter what, if you can't over come the obstacle in your life that's right in front of you but you still tried your hardest you should be proud with the effort that you gave. All that matters is that you try your hardest, I believe perseverance is everywhere in the classroom, on the court/ football field, and in our every day lives. Courage is to never back down, be a leader, that is what courage means to me courage is huge in life. Honesty is a great characteristic to have, if you are honest with your self and others you can achieve a lot. Confidence is one of, or the biggest trait of all of the characteristics, confidence in your self and your teammates and classmates is a special thing to have if you can have self confidence then you can achieve almost anything. Confidence is a huge factor in my life. When I was 11 years old we had just finished the regular season for baseball, and after we won our district we were on to state. At state we were the smallest team by far but we still knew we were capable …show more content…
And the next year after winning districts again we were on to state once again. We breezed by our first three competitors just like last time and was back in the semifinals. This time it wasn't so easy we were playing Rose city but we edged them out 7-6 and was onto the state championship again. Guess who were playing, Murray Hill and this time we were not going to let them get the best of use we won that game 14-4. We ended up going onto regionals playing on ESPN and doing great getting second in the northwest region. It felt great to finally win a state championship and now I know that all the hard work I put into in the offseason was worth. I believe that hard work eventually pays off in the
This experience has taught me many valuable lessons. I learned that it is important to fight and work for what you believe in. I have learned more skills than soccer, such as teamwork and communication skills. I have learned that it's good to broaden one's horizon by meeting and becoming friends with people from other schools and communities. I'm looking forward to the soccer district and regional, and we hope we qualify for the state championship.

“The good guy always wins” is a phrase we often hear growing up. Parents reassure their kids that the hero will win despite the trials he encounters. Joseph Campbell, who coined the term “monomyth”, identifies these trials as a part of a pattern in the hero’s journey. This pattern consists of separation, initiation, and return. Osmosis Jones goes through this pattern with only a few pieces missing. The hero in this story teaches others that giving up is not an option. One must have perseverance to complete a goal, in this case, to save Frank. The journey that Jones takes to help him get through the monomyth helps develop the theme of perseverance because he never gives up on what he wants.
Many people encounter perseverance throughout their life in certain events. Buck from the Call of the Wild, is taken from a place like home to him and thrown into a harsh environment he is not used to. Similar to that, my mom was living a normal life when suddenly she had to stay strong for the family due to her brother near death from a tragic wreck. Even though they differ, both had to adapt to the life changing experiences and stay mentally strong.
Jeannette Walls had a horrific childhood that truly brought out the survivor in her. Jeannette had troubles with her family, friends and siblings but she was not hindered by the difficult situations and the choices that she had to make. In order to survive she to had be resourceful and use what she had to her advantage and also learn to adapt to any situation. Through it all she had the drive and purpose of a true survivor. Her survival tools of Ingenuity, Adaptability and Purpose helped her to grow into the person she is today.
*Click* *Clack* *Clack.* The sound of controllers fills my ears. The only expression I could see on every player’s face was determination. The desire to prove themselves burned brightly. I turn to meet the box of color that displayed the game I love to play. I thought to myself, “Did I practice enough? How should I play this out? I absolutely have to win!” As these thoughts raced through my mind, I give my opponent a good luck, and press start. “3, 2, 1, Go!” Suddenly, the fictional characters displayed come to life and all of my concentration switches to this game. Determination takes control over me, and the only word I can think of is “Win.” Gaming is a passion that I have had ever since I was young. The competitiveness of it is what
...en I have a goal. I work hard and don't give up easily. I am a perpetual optimist always looking to the future and learning from my mistakes rather than letting them pull me down. I have a certain amount of natural intelligence, and what I lack I make up for with persistence and tenacity. I have an inherent belief that I will accomplish my goals that keeps me positive and pursuing my goals even when it is difficult to do so.
I started playing baseball right after I moved to Virginia, coming from California. At first I wasn’t that good, because I was only six years old at that time, but it was okay, because the other six-year old were not much better than me. It was the first time I was to play a sport, and it turned out to be my only sport later in
The traditional view for the date of revelation is during the reign of Emperor Domitian (A.D. 81-90). The early church fathers affirmed this and most scholars since have agreed. The date has been traditionally set between A.D. 94-96 (during the final and most severe years of Domitian’s
All throughout high school I played on the softball team. Proceeding the season before where we went undefeated with a district championship, my senior year we were supposed to be unstoppable. We received a few new players to add on to our army and the entire school was counting on our run to state. I was so excited to have an amazing end to my high school softball career, but unfortunately my dream was cut short when we lost in the first round of districts. I did not know that loss would change me the way it did.
My perseverance has prepared me for a career in medicine. The path towards becoming a physician can be long and challenging, necessitating the ability to endure. My ability to bounce back from setbacks and mistakes has solidified throughout my journey. One of the cornerstone experiences of my personal development occurred during high school. My determination led to me my graduating as valedictorian of my class, while balancing three varsity sports and several extracurricular activities. In addition, I worked on weekends to help support my family financially. This persistence resulted in scholarship awards that made higher education a possibility.
I believe in working hard for what you want. You have to work for something if you really want to achieve it. Hardworking came to mind because when I asked what my philosophy was, I said it was working hard. I believe in this because for me it’s true, and it is true for many others. I think everyone needs to at least try to get an education. Not everyone can get an education, but you can still try.
David Sarnoff once said, “The will to persevere is often the difference between failure and success,” and this is true in the novels Speak, The Art of Resilience, and the poem ”If”. These three works of literature show the act of perseverance through the most difficult times of life. The theme of perseverance is revealed through conflict by creating a problem for the character to solve and persevering through it. Characterization also displays the theme through the characters having persevering character traits. In the novels and the poem the author’s use of foreshadowing reveals the theme throughout the texts. The theme is that it is important to stay positive and persevere when one believes they have reached their limit is displayed in speak,
My fellow classmates and graduates of 2014, I want to thank you for letting me speak to you today about one of the most important things in life and in school, perseverance. Perseverance is hard work, patience, commitment, endurance, and motivation. Perseverance is being able to bear obstacles and difficulties calmly and without complaint. Perseverance is trying again and again, even after you've failed and may feel all hope is lost. It is believing yourself even if you are the only support you have. Everyone interprets perseverance in their own way and to me it consists of three major elements: strength, patience, and of course motivation. Without strength, one cannot persevere past the strenuous challenges they are sure to encounter on their journey. Without determination, one will surely give up once faced with these burdens. Every journey is a long one in life, so without patience nobody would wait long enough to persevere when the road gets bumpy. In essence, perseverance is immeasurably significant in everything we do.
If you were to ask a friend or family member to describe me, they would probably say that I am hard working, outgoing, an outdoorsman, and an overall amazing friend. Ever since I was a little kid, I have always been a hard worker. For example, I would always go above and beyond what was required for a project that was due in grade school. Whether it was a diorama, and a report about iguanas, or a poster on Jackie Robinson, I would always put way more work into the project thatn was actually needed. This work ethic has stuck with me all the way into college, and I consider my work ethicit to be one of my best qualities. The second word someone would use to describe me would be outgoing, which is funny since while I consider myself to be outgoing
