When an NBA team wins back to back championships it is no coincidence that they are the best team in the league. But what makes up a winning basketball team? Most people would assume that if the team has the best player, or the best coach, or the biggest team, then the team has the best team. In reality, it takes more than that. It takes a combined effort from different factors of a team to be considered “elite”. This paper will discuss what makes the Miami Heat so special. The Miami Heat are a winning basketball team because of the superb players, wise coaches, and rowdy fans.
To start off, the Miami Heat has three of the best players in the league with great role players to fit in perfectly. Lebron James, the best player in the world, leads the Miami Heat. The following statistics come from the article “Miami Heat players”. James is a 6’8” 250 pound player who can play any position. He does it all for this team. James averages 27.6 points per game, 7.2 rebounds per game, and 7 assists per game. Not only does James produce superstar numbers, he also is a leader on this team.He takes big shots for his team, and helps other players as well. The second best player for the Heat is Dwayne Wade. Wade is a 6’4” shooting guard. He has been with the Heat for 9 years, and has won three championships with them. The eight time all star is a key component to this teams success. He is averaging 19.2 ppg, 5.1 rpg, and 1.77 spg. Not only is Wade an offensive threat, but he also has great defense. Another star of the Heat is Chris Bosh. Standing at 6’11”, Bosh is the power forward for the Heat. Averaging 16.5 ppg, and 6.7 rpg, Bosh is one of the NBA’s most dominant power forwards. He is a seven time all star.

The Miami Heart Franchise has been around for twenty-six years. In 1988, through an NBA expansion the team began begun with a disappointing start with a 15-67 record for their first season (Fleming, 2014). The progress was slow, however in 1992 made their first playoff appearance finishing fourth place. The Heat made their first trip to the NBA national championships finals in 2006 against the Dallas Mavericks. In this championship, the Heat accomplished a new feat. They rallied from a 0-3 deficit to win the finals.

No matter what sport you may find interesting, basketball will always be one of the greatest. From China to France, England to Australia basketball is not just a game but a part of life. It doesn’t matter if you’re better than LeBron or worse than Austin, the real winning in basketball is the smile on your face when you hit that jumper, or assist that alley-oop, or even dribble the ball down the court. For example, the MLB’s All-Star Game has an impact on post-season results. The MLS’s All-Star game features the league’s best against top European soccer clubs. The NHL’s All-Star Game features a ton of scoring in a sport that typically has low scores. There is no novelty factor for the NBA during its All-Star Weekend. Only the NFL’s Pro Bowl is worse than the NBA’s All-Star Weekend in terms of entertainment value.

The distraction of partying and girlfriends kept the men up all night and led to them being punished by their coach. In recruiting, Coach Don Haskins overlooked the stereotypes surrounding African-American basketball players and started the first all-black national championship team. This inspirational story is one that explains the reason for the racial equality in the sport of basketball today.
Most importantly, teamwork both on offense and defense has led them to be ranked among the league’s best in both. As long as the Golden State Warriors keep shooting the three point shot the way they have been, along with great passing and teamwork, they will pass the record held by the 1995-1996 Michael Jordan led Chicago Bulls team. With superstar snipers in Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, it is no wonder the Golden State Warriors lead the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage. Not only are they shooting over 40% from behind the 3-point line, which many consider to be the barometer of an elite shooter, as a team they are the number one, three-point shooting team with a 41.2% shooting percentage from behind the arc.
Whether it is watching from a television in a living room or watching from the stands in a stadium, people love watching basketball. For a basketball game to be entertaining to its viewers it has to have talented players, freak athletes, an exciting atmosphere, unpredictability, popularity, and intensity. Even though the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) basketball lacks in talent, it exceeds NBA (National Basketball Association) basketball as more enticing to watch because of its unpredictability and atmosphere.
