1. “Because our Father loves his children, he will not leave us to guess about what matters most in life concerning where our attention could bring happiness or our indifference bring sadness.” Not all families are the same anymore. And this to me says perfectly what I need to hear because of my family situation. I am not sure what is going to happen in the next life because of the complicated situation with me family, but I know the Lord has a plan and he will not leave us astray. Back home I have had a lot of friends start to give in to the temptations of the world on behalf of gender. One friend in particular comes to mind. She was very strong in the church and had a wonderful supportive family. One day, she came out as a transgender who didn’t necessarily have attraction to either sexes. But I knew my whole life how wonderful and spiritual she was. She was so knowledgeable of the doctrine that it just makes me think what went wrong, only God knows. “Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.” My thoughts throughout this talk was those friends that turned over and now consider themselves a different sex. I know though that throughout this life they will be those people that I knew before their change forever. It is in their souls! I know though that one day the Lord will reveal to them who they truly are and explain what they don’t know. That’s comforting to know. In individually and in marriage we must strive to be like Him and regardless of our urges we need to resist temptations. “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything.” We must not worship idols or material things of possession. Our ultimate priority should be God. If that isn’t our first priority, then we are in need of great change.
2. “We believe that the ultimate treasures on earth and in heaven are our children and our posterity.” I chose this because it is the plan that God has for us! It may seem redundant but without procreating we would not be able to understand true happiness.
Thoughts and Impressions
What struck me in this talk is that birthrates are lowering around the world. This does have to do with people getting married older and all sorts of other issues go along with that fact…it is terrifying what Satan is doing. Morals are declining and people are losing touch of what is right in the world. Marriage can be a difficult thing now because of all of the worldly views. People genuinely care about what people think and they do what everyone else does because it is more excepting than those people with morals and values.
