1. “Because our Father loves his children, he will not leave us to guess about what matters most in life concerning where our attention could bring happiness or our indifference bring sadness.” Not all families are the same anymore. And this to me says perfectly what I need to hear because of my family situation. I am not sure what is going to happen in the next life because of the complicated situation with me family, but I know the Lord has a plan and he will not leave us astray. Back home I have had a lot of friends start to give in to the temptations of the world on behalf of gender. One friend in particular comes to mind. She was very strong in the church and had a wonderful supportive family. One day, she came out as a transgender who didn’t necessarily have attraction to either sexes. But I knew my whole life how wonderful and spiritual she was. She was so knowledgeable of the doctrine that it just makes me think what went wrong, only God knows. “Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.” My thoughts throughout this talk was those friends that turned over and now consider themselves a different sex. I know though that throughout this life they will be those people that I knew before their change forever. It is in their souls! I know though that one day the Lord will reveal to them who they truly are and explain what they don’t know. That’s comforting to know. In individually and in marriage we must strive to be like Him and regardless of our urges we need to resist temptations. “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything.” We must not worship idols or material things of possession. Our ultimate priority should be God. If that isn’t our first priority, then we are in need of great change.

What struck me in this talk is that birthrates are lowering around the world. This does have to do with people getting married older and all sorts of other issues go along with that fact…it is terrifying what Satan is doing. Morals are declining and people are losing touch of what is right in the world. Marriage can be a difficult thing now because of all of the worldly views. Part of the issue that transgenders face is living in a puritanical society that is ignorant, judgmental, and afraid of their sexual choices. Transgender is defined by Wikipedia as, “the state of one's gender identity (self-identification as woman, man, neither or both) or gender expression not matching one's assigned sex.” The article explains how a transgender individual may define themselves as having the characteristics that are normally associated with a particular gender but will choose to identify elsewhere on the gender continuum. I chose the topic of transgenderism. Transgender is when an individual tries to switch genders. Transgender comes from the Latin words trans, meaning “across.” Transgender literally means “across gender.” Many trans-individuals decided later on in their lives that they want to switch genders, and other people argue that they were born the wrong gender. Trans-people experience many difficulties throughout their lives. Switching genders makes their lives more challenging, because of many reasons. Their lives are more challenging because of their religion, whether or not they are accepted. The military is very strict, and will not accept trans individuals whatsoever. Insurance companies sometimes will not accept them as well. Trans people are not always accepted by certain occupations. Growing up in schools, trans people are all treated differently regarding to which bathroom/locker room to use. Although transgender is a protected class in eighteen states, these individuals still face discrimination within the country and around the world (“Non-Discrimination Laws”). Transgender is not a lifestyle, no one chooses to live their life constantly being discriminated against. Transgender issues should be more educated on and their lives should be more protected.

According, to Human Rights Campaign transgender is an umbrella term for individuals whose gender identity differs from what was assigned to them at birth it is about their gender identity. Transgender deals with gender identity; being born female or male at birth, but identifying with the opposite gender assigned at birth. The acts of violence against transgender individuals are extreme and hard breaking. People of trans continue to face discrimination and oppression on a daily basis. People of trans are often neglected by society and sometimes even by their own loved ones. Additionally, the suicide rate among the trans community is very high due to bullying and rejection they face.
God intended for us to be united with the opposite sex since the beginning of time. The book of Genesis tells us: "God created man in his image, He created him in the image of God, man and woman, He created them. God saw what he had done and said, "This is good, it is not good that man should be alone."(McLachlan 5). Marriage is inherently good and pleasing to God. It was part of God's original plan for mankind. It is also shown that Jesus held marriage in great esteem, for it was at a wedding where he performed his first public miracle. Society has shaped the thoughts and minds of many individuals and because of this personal beliefs towards LGBT people came into play. Society was constantly telling people that there was something wrong with them if they were LGBT and that they would go to hell for it because God did not approve of it and it was a sin. I would like to say that because society was judging people and denying them, that they were committing a sin. Many people believe in a traditional marriage between a man and a woman. God created man and woman to be faithful and produce children. Same-sex marriage is contrary to the word of God and the laws of nature; therefore, it is incompatible with the beliefs, sacred texts, and traditions of many religious groups.
