In the book Hatchet, Gary Paulsen tells a story about a teenager named Brian Robeson. Brian is flying to his dad’s house in a private plane when the plane starts to go down. Brian is later trapped on the island by himself, and must survive on his own. When Brian arrives he must go underwater to search for the plane in the lake and find a first aid kit, he also finds a fleshless head from the captain that the fish picked off of. Throughout this book, readers will find that Brian uses self motivation to get him past the bad moments he has in the novel, people will also see how Brian has many struggles like a tornado early on in the book.
