Animal endangerment is a very prominent problem in the world today. This is because the world is plagued by poaching and habitat loss still even though poaching is illegal, and habitat loss shouldn’t happen anymore due to a myriad of laws. With tigers it is worse because of how valuable they are to the world. Tigers are one of the most endangered species in the world, and they are very essential for everything they contribute to their habitat and their ecosystem.

The Chinese whom use the tiger for their medical uses do not try to kill many tigers, but the killings of tigers started to get out of control in the 20th century when Tigers were sought out because it would be a great honor to kill a tiger. But it was not always for that. The tigers were also killed due to angry villagers. The tigers would kill the livestock to feed themselves and of course the villagers would become angry about it. It is obvious that humans would see tigers as a threat because of their sheer size, as they are the largest felines in the world, so they would have to hunt them for safety. But, there is a point where tiger hunting needs to stop. That point is when, in the mid 1900’s, the population of tigers plummeted from over 100,000 to now 3,200 wild tigers. That is a 95% drop in the population in at least 60 years which is a staggeringly high number for a relatively short period of time. The relief is that there are more than 5000 tigers in captivity in the U.S. alone, so the population is on the rise up and for the better. The Endangered Species Act Introduction: Long-term survival of a species depends on its ability to adapt to changing environmental conditions (Murphy, 1994). Genetic diversity within a species, which has taken 3.5 billion years to evolve, makes adaptations to these changing environments possible. Unfortunately, the rate of extinction of genetically diverse organisms is rapidly increasing, thus reducing this needed biodiversity, largely due to the human impacts of development and expansion. Animal abuse is a travesty in our world that must be stopped. Every year, millions of animals suffer because of human actions, directly or indirectly. Whether it’s abused dogs and cats or even mistreated circus animals, their suffering is as real as it would be if it happened to us. Even animals who are raised on farms simply for human consumption should not have to suffer. One of the worst parts of humanity’s role in animal abuse is that there are easy ways for people to help that they are either ignorant of or simply refuse to do. However the public, without humans and/or animals being harmed at the same time, can see exotic animals when a zoo opens. Zoos for many are a wonderful experience, but to others they see the animals as being treated poorly and not able to roam free. These people do not consider the beneficial sides of zoos. Zoos around the world help species that have been endangered by protecting and caring for them. Otherwise they would have became extinct and killed for their valuable fur or feathers. Zoos were created for a purpose that needed to be filled. If there were no purpose for them they would have not been created. Zoos are needed and if there is a need in this world, the spot will most likely be filled without hesitation. Some zoos were not trained properly and do not treat their animals very well. Some bad zoos do not feed their animals enough and keep them in a confined cage. Although some zoos are harmful for both animals and people, many of them are good zoos and take care of their animals better than most people take care of them selves. It is amazing to be able to see such care and love are associated with zoos. Not only do zoos help the endangered animals they also help people learn to respect such amazing creatures. Zoos are a good attribute to society because they promote education, research, protect, conserve, and outlook.
Although it may not seem saving or protecting endangered animals is important, it actually and truly is important because animals around the world are being killed for wildlife marketing purposes which is illegal and destroys the species population in that environment. Citizens should take more care of these endangered animals before they become totally extinct and will no longer be seen on the face of the earth. Recently researchers have found that poachers (hunters who hunt animals for their value by trading illegal merchandise) are killing thousands of animals a day, and they are doing so even to this day. These species should be treated with more responsibility and care. They are even being killed by human interactions such as deforestation, oil spills, etc.
The tiger is known for being a wild and dangerous animal, but also its beauty. In relations to India this could be a reference to the beautiful culture which enriches our experience of India, but also some of the downsides that it has like poverty and unemployment and other sociological factors which paint a grim picture of Indian life.
