Vocation. What is a Vocation? As Austrian neurologist, psychiatrist, and Holocaust survivor Viktor E. Frankl believes, “Everyone has his own specific vocation or mission in life.” Therefore, a vocation is someone’s specific mission or purpose for being. Frankl continues by saying, “everyone must carry out a concrete assignment that demands fulfillment. Therein he cannot be replaced, nor can his life be repeated, thus, everyone’s task is unique as his specific opportunity to implement it.” I agree with Frankl. A vocation is someone’s calling, mission, or duty in life. I believe that each person was put on this earth for a specific and unique reason and therefore, they are the only ones who can fulfill their assignment. Thus, many Christians have vocations, which utilize their abilities in order to serve the Lord and support one another. As Colossians 3:23 instructs, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters” (Col. 3:23). Since my career has me traveling all the time, I have access to plenty of places and even more people. Because of this, God has given me the opportunity to demonstrate His work in my life. By being faithful, loving, generous, kind, compassionate, and accepting, I exemplify God’s purpose for His creation. My hope is that others will see and appreciate my poise and chose to act similarly. In this way, I am hoping to create a domino effect such that I impact at least one person’s life in a positive way, so much so that they will do the same. This is one of the ways in which I enjoy participating in God’s redemption
