XV Celebration Every girl has dreams about becoming a princess, having a horse drawn carriage, and having a fairy god mother that grants one’s every wish, or at least I did. Like the typical Mexican little girl, I always looked forward to my quinceañera with excitement and the day had finally arrived. I was very enthusiastic about all the big events that would make this day so memorable but what i never expected was the small details; they were so simple, but did so much. It was a bright sunny Saturday and all the household members were running back and forth preparing food and welcoming our relatives, who had come from far, into the house. It was at this point that i came back to reality and noticed that everyone’s eyes were set on us. “Yes, I do. I also remember i said “no” because I already was someone’s princess. I was daddy’s princess.” A wide grin came up to his face accompanied by tears in his eyes. The tears crept into the creased lines on his face and then rolled down. “I don’t want you to ever forget that you are my princess.” The song ended so he twirled me one last time and gave me a strong hug. “Te amo tanto,” he lovingly wispered before returning to his seat. After the father-daughter dance I was coronated and given a special gift. The cake wake cut and a toast was made in my name. Everyone complemented the strawberry and vanilla cake that was decorated with peacock feathers around its whole diamter. For the rest of the night all i did was dance! My feet knew nothing of wrong or right steps all they did was move up down and side to side. My friends and family laughed at each other making fun of our terrible dancing skills.
