The purple in the room represents royalty and mysticism. This color represents the prince. This room is him and even if his status is so high up; the red death could still get him. For he is who is, no matter where he is at, he is still at red death’s reach. Everyone always ends in the same place, the same ground, and the same way. This color symbolism is also in a way of mysticism. The characteristics Edgar uses to describe the prince is off. The prince acted as if he had a brave front, but in reality he wasn’t.
