Gatsby by seeking to arrive to the green light he idealizes Daisy as the princes of his fairy tale dream who just has left him because he is a poor man. As a result, Gatsby gives his life to make more and more money and to build his wealth. He lives a life of loneliness; he keeps himself away from people and from any kind of relationships. When Nick is about to call him he doesn’t do that because Gatsby “gave a sudden intimation that he was content to be alone” (Fitzgerald16). His hope “the green light” makes him fear of intimacy. He doesn’t make any real relationship with anybody in his life. As a host of his luxurious parties, which are full of people, he does not appear to his guests. They do not even know them, when they arrive to the party someone knew Gatsby introduce them and they sometime “came and went without having met Gatsby” (Fitzgerald 27). “ Its attitude is one of disillusionment and detachment; Fitzgerald is still able to evoke the glitter of the 1920s but he is no longer dazzled by it; he sees its underlying emptiness and impoverishment” (Trendell 23)The story is narrated from the point of view of Nick, one of Gatsby’s friends. The problematic and hopeless romantic, Gatsby, sets out to fulfill his dream in acquiring Daisy, his lifelong love, through his many tactics and ideas. Gatsby is introduced extending his arms mysteriously toward a green light in the direction of the water. Later, Gatsby is shown to be the host of many parties for the rich and Nick is invited to one of these parties where Gatsby and Nick meet. When Gatsby later confesses his love for Daisy he explains she was a loved one who was separated from him and hopes to get her again explained when he says, “I hope she'll be a fool -- that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool”(Fitzgerald 56). There are several obstacles that Gatsby must overcome and the biggest one that is Daisy’s current fiancé but that still does not get in the way of him trying to recover Daisy’s old feelings. His attempts are made through money and wealth because he tries to buy her love back instead of letting it happen naturally.

However, as his story unfolds, the reader finds out that he is an industrious man and a hopeless dreamer. The quintessential colors of yellow, green, and blue are used by F. Scott Fitzgerald to describe Gatsby’s characteristics in his magnum opus, The Great Gatsby. Yellow, an incandescent color, stands for his vivacious outward disposition, the shallow people around him, and his seemingly self-indulgent spending habits, for which he has an ulterior motive. Green represents the extreme lifestyle changes Gatsby has made in adulthood and his staunch hopefulness in finding love. Blue is a symbol of the
In the iconic book The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, a story about a wealthy man chasing the fantasy of being with his former love, colors expressed more than what was on the page. Over the course of events narrated by Nick Carraway, one could easily identify that colors meant more than they appeared. In The Great Gatsby, the name “Daisy” and her character’s personality/actions can be interpreted as the colors and structure of a daisy flower to shed the dynamics of her character.

Throughout history, colors have been used as symbols in literature. When people see or hear certain colors, they automatically associate them with symbols and feelings. The Great Gatsby is full of symbolism, colors, for example. Throughout the book the author uses them to represent different themes of the novel. Some of these colors are white, yellow, grey, green, pink, red and blue. However, I picked white and green for my commentary because I think these colors have a special meaning different from the others. In addition, sometimes green symbolizes the jealousy of certain characters.
