Generativity is something that adults desire to pass on to the future generations. This can include anything from attitudes, morals, cultures, or manners. I would say that the middle-aged adult that has inspired me throughout my life and will continue to inspire me would be my mother. My mother and I have been very close since I was younger and I consider her as someone that I can talk to about anything in this world. Even though we can disagree on something I know she will always be there for me no matter what may happen in life. One of the main things that my mother has done to represent her generativity is by balancing her work and school. Even though this made me question what I wanted to do, my mom was always supportive and would tell me that my heart should lead me to what I wanted to do in the future. Now that I have finally came to peace with what I want to do in the future, which is to be a nurse, she is behind me every step of the way. I told her about my plans of going back to school later in my career to become a nurse practitioner and she is very supportive of that. She teaches me to be responsible and to succeed in college because how I do in college will affect the rest of my life. Another thing that I have learned from my mother is to always have respect and take care of your parents no matter how old they are in life. My mother will take her parents to the doctor anytime they call, she will feed them dinner about two nights out of the week, and she will also drive them on their vacations so they can enjoy themselves. Just from watching her actions, she encouraging me to always be respectful to your elderly no matter what.
