Was it Love? Throughout time people have argued about if Romeo and Juliet were actually in love. Some people say Romeo and Juliet were not in love because Romeo and Juliet met and fell in love all in the same day. The other side of the argument says they are in love and it is a historical, once in a lifetime love. Romeo and Juliet were in love and Shakespeare proves this through three main events which are when Juliet finds out Romeo has been banished they both say they are going to kill themselves, Shakespeare also shows they are in love by Juliet being willing to fake her own death just to see Romeo, and also Romeo and Juliet both kill themselves when they think each other are dead. Juliet knew it was a dangerous idea, even though she didn’t know exactly what was going to happen Juliet put all her fears aside and did it anyway just so she could be with Romeo. Juliet did not think once about what would happen if her and Romeo did not work out, she knew Romeo would come for her and knew he loved her too. Juliet was willing to leave her own family and never see them ever again and go and live in a whole new place and a whole new lifestyle so she could be with Romeo. She knew how dangerous the potion was because Friar Lawrence told her, “Take thou this vial, being then in bed, And this distillèd liquor drink thou off, When presently through all thy veins shall run. A cold and drowsy humor, for no pulse, Shall keep his native progress, but surcease. No warmth, no breath shall testify thou livest. The roses in thy lips and cheeks shall fadem, To paly ashes, thy eyes' windows fall, Like death when he shuts up the day of life” (4.1. 95).
