Have you ever wondered who was behind the Holocaust, besides Hitler? Reinhard Heydrich was an infamous, world renowned Nazi that instigated the mass murder of a myriad of Jews and never felt remorse. In the article “Reinhard Heydrich”, found on biography.com, Reinhard is described as a “high-ranking German Nazi official and one of the main architects of the Holocaust. In 1939 he ordered the arrest of thousands of Jews by the Gestapo and their imprisonment in concentration camps”. He played a key role in the Holocaust and even received recognition from Hitler for his work. On May 27, 1942, two Czech patriots, Jan Kubis and Josef Gabcik, ambushed Heydrich while in his car and launched a bomb inside, Heydrich was seriously wounded and remained in critical condition for days. His health quickly withered away and he died on June 4th from a supposed wound infection, (“Reinhard Heydrich”). He has been described as a man with a brave, cruel, and cold intelligence for whom truth and goodness has no intrinsic meaning; “those who worked Heydrich feared him, as did those who were...under his control,” (MacDonald). He was a high-ranking Nazi who was not only well known among fellow Nazis and Jews but also well feared. He was in charge of jobs such as military expansion, creating and controlling Security Operational Groups(SOG), securing documents/information of Jews, and identifying, arresting, and exterminating the “enemies”(Jews), (“Reinhard Heydrich: In Depth”). Heydrich supported and devoted his life to a terrorist group that based its ideals of the destruction of others, with this information it can be concluded that Reinhard was an evil man whose assassination was necessary in order to terminate the expansion of his terroristic views.
