Subject:Chasing optimism in the face of optimism Chasing optimism in the face of challenges is very hard but if you do it often enough you can be successful. Walt Disney is a good example of chasing optimism in the face of challenges. Walt Disney was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 5th, 1901. His parents were Elias Disney and Flora Disney.
His father Elias Disney was of an Irish-Canadian descent while his mother Flora Disney, was a descendent of a German-American family. Elias and Flora had five children: four boys and one girl. Walt was Elias and Flora's fourth child. Soon after Walt was born his family moved to a farm near Marceline, Missouri. Walt was happy while he lived on the farm and loved the animals there. In 1917 Walt Disney moved to Chicago, and Walt entered McKinley High School, a fine arts school where Walt learned more about drawing and photography. In 1918 Walt Disney tried to enlist for military service but he wasn't allowed to because he was only sixteen years old so instead he volunteered for Red Cross service. After WWI he moved back to Kansas City where he began his career as an advertising cartoonist for a newspaper company where he met Ub Iwerks however they fired him because they claimed that he was unimaginative and didn't have any good material.. Walt traveled to Hollywood,California, in 1923.Walt began producing Oswald the Rabbit cartoons for Universal Studios with his brother as his partner. A contract dispute led to the end of his work with Universal Studios, Disney and his brother decided to come up with their very own character. Their first success Was Steamboat Willie. It featured Disney as the voice of a character first called "Mortimer Mouse." Walt's wife, Lillian ( they had married in 1925) had told Walt that Mickey sounded better, and Disney agreed with her.

There was a strike by Walt's animators in 1941 and it was a huge setback for the company. Many of Walt's animators resigned, and it would be years before the company could produce any animated features that didn't fall short when compared to the quality of Disney's early 1940s classics. Disney’s invasion into the film industry for the federal government during World War II helped the studio perfect methods of combining live-action and animation. The studio’s commercial films using this hybrid technique include The Reluctant Dragon (1941), Saludos Amigos (1942), The Three Caballeros (1945), Make Mine Music (1946), and Song of the South (1946). On July 18, 1957, Disney opened Disneyland in Anaheim, California, the most successful amusement park in history. His idea for the park came to him after he took his children to other amusement parks and watching them have fun on amusement rides. He decided to build a park where an entire family no matter whether they were adults or children could have fun together. Disney’s imagination and all of his energy, his humour, and his gift for being attuned to the popular taste inspired him to develop amusements

While the testimony was documented and cannot be questioned, Disney’s motives for testifying, impact it had on his animated features, and how the ordeal affected his image are issues that are still scrutinised and debated.
