Walt Disney and Walter Lee Younger
Walter Elias Disney and Walter Lee Younger were dreamers. They both worked through difficulties to try to achieve their goals. Disney worked hard towards every goal he had, no matter what difficulties stood in his way. Younger had clear, precise steps to achieve his dream, even though it was out of his reach. Though both Disney and Younger both worked hard to achieve their dreams, they are not very alike.
Walter Elias Disney was born on December 5th, 1901 in Hermosa, Illinois. Together, he and his brother would come to cofound Walt Disney Productions. Disney grew up in Marceline, Missouri with his mother, father, three brothers, and one sister. In 1911, they moved to Kansas City. Due to his Uncle Mike Martin’s career as a train engineer, Disney developed his love of trains. In 1917, the Disney family moved to Chicago where Disney attended McKinley high School. He took drawing and photography classes as well as drew for the school newspaper. He also took classes at the Chicago Art institute. At the young age of sixteen, he dropped out of school. He originally wanted to join the army but, after being rejected for being underage, instead joined the Red Cross. He was sent to France and to drive an ambulance there for one year.
He returned to the United States in 1919 to Kansas City where he worked as a newspaper artist. Walt’s brother Roy got him a job at the Pesmen-Rubin Art Studio working with Ubbe Iwerks, a famous cartoonist. In January 1920, Walt Disney and Ubbe Iwerks create Iwerks-Disney Commercial artists. ...is dream than Younger. After some complaining Younger was handed the money he needed while Disney wasn’t handed anything. The most obvious difference Between Disney and Younger is that Disney’s dream came true and Younger’s, sadly, did not.
Despite their differences, Younger and Disney are still alike in some aspects. Both trusted other people with their dreams. Younger trusted his business associates to get the permit and help him fulfill his dreams. Disney trusted his brother Roy and associate Iwerks to help him accomplish his dreams. In spite of numerous obstacles, including bankruptcy, they stood by him and helped him. Also, both Younger and Disney faced many obstacles on their way to achieving their dreams. Younger faced not having the initial investment to open his store. Disney faced bankruptcy and the inability to gain distributors for his pieces.
