Origins of the voodoo doll The use of voodoo dolls is usually linked to Africa and the Americas in popular fiction. However, early records suggested that the practice started in the British medieval period. People then made rag fools or sculptures with witches, which they called poppets, and pierce the doll with pins to break an enchantment or cause harm. But the dolls were mistakenly linked later with Vodou or Afro-Caribbean Voodoo. Liang said they conducted the research because previous studies suggested that workers who feel that they have been unfairly treated will exact revenge on their abuser. However, it can create a spiral of retaliation and counter-retaliation that could be detrimental to the organization in the long run. She said that rather than see the disgruntled employees actually retaliating against their abusive boss, the mistreated workers could instead benefit from the harmless act of symbolic retaliation. The community that this play takes place in also believes that poppets—dolls—are a sign of the devil. These are just ordinary dolls with regular human characteristics, but the people believed that the bodies and especially the faces of these dolls were rude mockeries of the human structure. Witchcraft and demonic ideas or beliefs are not to even be thought of during these times; severe punishment is the wrath of such things.
The terms voodoo, hoodoo, black magic and conjure arouse different ideas and interpretations such as fear, fascination, or repugnance. For some, the image of voodoo dolls, which are used to bring pain to the one’s enemy are associated with these words. Others might consider curses and spells used for evil intentions to be at the heart of voodoo. A more innocent notion of voodoo encompasses the idea that it is to be used for the communal good. All of these ideas came together and merged with Christian and Catholic beliefs after Africans were transported to the Americas and subjected to unimaginable horrors as slaves. Many historians define voodoo as “a syncretism between the African religion Vodu and Catholicism.” Voodoo is an entirely new creation, which was born as the African slaves were confronted with New World religions. These new ideas were “camouflaged as European saints, the Orisha divinities continued to be invoked, fed, and celebrated by their transplanted New World devotees, who in turn expected protection and assistance from their ancient spiritual guardian.” In some cases, slaves used the culturally accepted Catholic saints as a cover for their ancestral beliefs which were often seen as foolish and heretical by their masters. This new belief system “met new world needs that the settled and passive African modes could not match.” Voodoo held an important part in many slaves’ lives as remnants of their African beliefs evolved into a meaningful and powerful force. Voodoo was an essential element of survival for many slaves because it helped them cope psychologically with the physical torment they endured, it gave them a sense of power in impossibly difficult situations, and it served as a unifying force.

The Craft is a religion based on the worship of a supreme divine creator, the practice of magic, and a reverence for the earth and all her inhabitants.

It was said that supernatural forces were confiding in them, and everyone’s fear came alive when the girls mentioned witches. Tituba, an Indian slave, taught her Caribbean voodoo-inspired magic to local girls, putting the idea of witchcraft in their minds (Aronson, 1). She was never trusted among the town because she was a foreign slave. Basic common “voo-doo magic” used in modern-day shows were the “incapable witchcraft” of the 1600’s.
A second characteristic of witches - and what witches are most commonly known for - is that they cause horrible misfortune to their neighbors and others close to them. Death, sickness, and weather disasters are examples of natural occurrences that witches cause are often blamed for, especially when the occurrences seem strange or out of the ordinary. They can cause this harm simply by willing it to happen. "The witch only has to wish you harm, and the harm is as good as done" (Mayer 56). In Slovakia, Mramuch, who killed his neighbor Anna Tomkova, did so because he suspected the woman of casting a spell on his granddaughter. It was the only answer Mramuch had to counter his granddaughter's sudden suffering of epileptic seizures (Whitmore). In South Africa, Mmatiou Thantsa was accused of witchcraft and summoning lightning (Keller).

The religion of Witchcraft dates back about 25,000 years, to the Paleolithic Age, where the God of Hunting and the Goddess of Fertility first appeared. Out of respect for the overwhelming power of Nature grew a belief in beings, gods, who controlled the winds, the seas, the earth and the fires (Rinehart). People have been slaughtered for ages because they had different belief systems or they simply were not liked. Whether they were witches or not, hundreds of thousands of people have been burned at the stake, dunked in freezing rivers, or otherwise tortured because people accused them of being witches.

For many, many generations, we have underestimated what the true meaning of a witch and what witchcraft really is. What is the history that hides behind it? Witches and witchcraft have been in our history since the ancient times. There is a little bit more than the ghost stories told on Halloween, the movies shown on TV and dressing up on Halloween.
With the concept of organization justice, Shkoler (2017), defines the concept of organizational justice as the “Perceptions of the degree to which an organization provides its employees with appropriate, fair and respectful treatment, adequate and accurate information, and resources and rewards.” (Shkoler & Tziner, 2017). With this, the researchers (2017) found that employees who perceived injustice in the workplace and acted to resolve the issues developed some behaviors that demonstrated negative feelings towards the organization. These behaviors included a lack of motivation and manifestations of mistrust towards the workplace or the manager. (Shkoler et al., 2017). The consequence of perceived injustice to employers is job burnout. Emotional intelligence was measured using the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short Form. Organizational justice was measured by the justice scale and burnout was measured with the Maslach Burnout Inventory. Work Misbehavior was measured by the Interpersonal and Organizational Deviance Scale. Meetings were conducted among threatened participants to gather the information about what might be going on in terms of employee’s personal, social, and mental health. As a company you are not doing well if you just keep bullies and ignore their behaviors (Denise, n.d.). Experts say that this type of action is catching juries’ attention becoming more accessible to hear cases of victims of workplace bullying. The president and governors have talked about it that eventually policies will be introduced into employees’ handbooks and labor agreements (Denise, n.d.).
