The type of leader someone is vital to the success of an organization, a team or a company. How they lead can differ based on many variables (i.e., group size, personality, situation, etc.,) which in return effects those involved. But, at the core of leadership should be ethics. But even then, the standards and guidelines of what is ethical vary among people. And for that reason, it is the utmost priority to keep the focal point on leadership that contains high moral character rather than the styles of Deontologist or Consequentialist. It is leading not just by actions, but based on the type of person they are. In today's climate, it makes a significant difference in making decisions that morally sound rather than making them based on the possible consequences. Virtue Ethical Theory

From growing his business to the third largest pizza chain in the United States to becoming the owner of several professional sports teams, Detroit Tigers, Red Wings and a few others in Detroit, Michigan to some of his philanthropic works that went unpublicized. His strategy to growing his business was customer loyalty and low prices. He once said to the Detroit Free Press "It's my job as leader of the franchise to produce the proper environment. This is my way of doing things." His principles and actions went beyond his own business, and he stood behind doing what he felt was right. From his non-profit, Ilitch Charities that focus on reinvesting in underserved communities, promoting job growth and economic development.
