Comparison Contrast Both cases have a similar situation that calls for immediate action in order to save the lives of people The Haiti case is an event that already happened, which needs an emergency plan to be executed immediately. Although the Vinay and Sameer case is a life-threatening situation, too, at least there’s some time to put up an action plan. Also, the situations are different in the sense that to get help for the victims of the earthquake, the images sent through the social networks speak by themselves. While the Vinay and Sameer case has to be presented to the population to compel them to help. People directly or indirectly connected to the case mobilized non-profit international organizations, the US army and the media to help Haiti. Vinay and Sameer friends got organized in two teams of 15 people. One of the teams focused on organizing donor drives and the other on the strategy and communications. People involved in both cases needed to move fast and effectively and at a scale to grab attention, engage, and take action. Although both cases relied heavily on communication and social networks, the Haiti situation was an immediate emergency to take food and water and medical help to the survivors, so the response of the rest of the world was immediate and effective. An emergent strategy is based on actions in which the team working under that strategy is not directly related to the goal of the business or event. In addition, it is a strategy that is flexible and can be modified according to the necessities. In contrast, a team that uses a planned strategy has to go through a roadmap already preset and follow the steps in order to motivate others to take the actions the team wants. Therefore, these strategies have to be applied to a specific situation. To help with the Haiti earthquake, the emergent strategy is the adequate one. The planned strategy serves better the purpose of Vinay and Sameer case.
