Ever since there has been misinformation that the vaccines have dangerous side effects, there has been plenty of controversy over the morality and safety of vaccinations. Children are the future of our generation and it is critical that we provide them with a healthy future. Parents should not have the choice to decide against immunizations because if parents choose not to vaccinate their infants or children, they are putting their children’s lives and the lives of other citizens in risk by increasing the chances of a fast spreading disease. Since the invention of the vaccination, many lives have been saved from these ghastly diseases. Some diseases that once injured or killed thousands of infants, have been eliminated completely and others are close to extinction, mainly because of safe and effective vaccines. Vaccination is very safe and effective. Vaccines are only given to infants after a long and careful review by scientists, doctors, and healthcare professionals. Vaccines will involve some discomfort and may cause pain, or redness but this is nothing compared to what your child will have to go through when they are diagnosed with a disease. Immunizations can also save a family’s time and money. Once the infant gets the disease there are many appalling processes a family has to go through. From paying the medical bills to paying for long term physical treatment. Vaccinations do not cost nearly as much as disease treatments do. Also, disease treatments do not have a 100% chance of curing the infant or child that is diagnosed with the disease. Immunization protects future generations by providing them with a disease free future. Vaccines have reduced and, in some cases, eliminated many diseases that killed or severely disabled people just a few generations ago, and due to immunizations the mortality rate has gone down.
