USMC or Royal Marines? a Persuasive Thesis Statement on Royal Marines and United States Marine Corps:
The Royal Marines are much older and therefore more experienced with obstacles and the tools needed to overcome these obstacles, then the United States Marine Corps, but USMC should be better equipped due to their constant involvement in foreign affairs and wide variety of weapons and armament. This paper will discuss a brief history of both corps and comparing their weapons of choice to decide which is better equipped to handle today’s conflicts.
The Royal Marines were founded during King Charles II’s reign, on October 28, 1664. They first were known as the Duke of York and Albany's Maritime Regiment of Foot or Admiral's Regimen, the name Marines were first seen in 1672 as well as in 1802. “Royal” was added to marines by King George III. The Royal Marines are a well funded and well trained military organization being as such brings many obligations and responsibilities, some of which being, preventing conflict, provide security to their nation by sea, work with allied nations to protect and cement the relations with those nations, they maintain a constant level of readiness for any situation that may threaten Britain or her allies, protecting international sea routes that

According to Nofi, “The United States Marine Corps is America's best-known military unit and perhaps the most famous in the world” . The traditions of the Marine Corps date way back since 1775 and the current regulations have been derived from the way marines in the past carried out their day to day activities. Some customs have been incorporated into the current orders and regulations to be able to standardize conduct of the marines. It is important for a marine to know and keep in mind traditional customs because one should never forget their heritage, therefore, practiced tradition in the Marine Corps should take precedence over Marine Corps orders and regulations .
The Role of the Royal Marines During World War One The Royal Marines were formed in 1664. They were formed as part of the Navy to keep order on board the men-of-war, to provide the Navy with a raiding force but mainly to deal with the Dutch, who were the combatant in 1664. In this paper, I will provide a Battle Analysis and outline the events leading up to and surrounding the Battle of 73 Eastings (refers to a north-south grid line). In addition, I will describe how the United States Army’s (USA) 2nd Armored Calvary Regiment (ACR) defeated forces from the Iraqi Republican Guard (IRG) using speed, technology and superior combat power. Although some consider the Battle of 73 Eastings extremely successful, some consider it a failure due to the large amount of Iraqi forces that retreated towards Bagdad. Lastly, I will analyze how each side used their intelligence assets and what they could have used to change the outcome.
Exemplary performance has always attracted accolades and numerous prices; this gives morale and vigor for everyone to achieve their best. In the disciplined forces, particularly the marine, the service members always receive a major reward that elevates them in rank; this is the medal. This rewards them for their bravery and contribution in the missions they are involved in. Indeed, they contribute a lot to the peace and security of the world at large and they truly deserve these medals for recognition (Tucker, 2011). This has been a practice for the U.S. Marine to issue Corps medals since the Civil War to present day. The United States Merchant Marines The United States Merchant Marines are complied of thousands of the best trained men and women of today to man naval or commercial ships. Merchant Marines have dated back even further then the United States Coast Guard. The Merchant Marines have had a huge impact on the United States Navy since they have been established. Merchant Marines have manned fleets of ships for the U.S. Navy which carry imports and export during peace time.

Is it because of their aggressive nature and mindset? What is to follow may shed some light on these questions and perhaps give some type of insight on how the Marine Corps was so prevailing and what conflicts had they had conquered. 1775, November 10th. This date is memorized and celebrated by every United States Marine as something of excellence, a date of honor. This date is non other than the "birthdate" of the Marine Corps. It was on this date that the Continental Congress passed a resolution to create two operational battalions of American Marines. These men would ultimately be headed by Captain Samuel Nicholas, of the United States Naval department. It was in Philadelphia that the first Marines were grouped and trained for their inaugural mission. The three hundred Marines that had been recruited, were placed aboard eight transport ships, all destined for the beaches of New Providence (the Bahamas). Upon their landing on March 3rd, 1776, they fought up the beach, sweeping through a barrage of bullets, and took command of two small stone forts and a number of military storage complexes.
The second characteristic of professionalism is responsibility. General responsibility creates the moral responsibility of marines and helps us understand the set of values which guide us. In addition, however, marines must also possess the values of other human beings and question service to a society which does not respect these values. These values include justice, common courtesy, human dignity and humbleness. A government which does not respect these values is illegitimate and cannot be said to serve the society it directs. In the case of United States marines, the values of the United States must be examined in the context of the military profession. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution provide clear statements of these values and Ethics. Ethics are standards by which one should act based on values. Even though they are under the Navy, the highest officer in the Marines does not answer to anyone else because he is the head of the Corps (Grabianowski, 2007). The Marines are divided into four groups: the Operating Forces that are in charge of the fighting, the Headquarters Marine Corps which provides the leadership, the supporting establishment provides the logistics, and the Marine Forces Reserves that train one weekend a month and two weeks a year to provide support or replace Marines when needed.
