While reading the text “Understanding the Yi Jing” I came to many realizations about what the text was truly telling me. I came about this text because it was assigned to us as a class, however I am glad that this text was assigned to me because I discovered many things that I did not know before reading this text; and this text had a big impact on me. At first understanding what the text was saying to me confused me because I did not realize what it was trying to teach me, however after continuing my reading I realized that it was showing me a totally different perspective about how I learn. The way are brain works, physically does not allow us to go back before a situation happened, or to go back before we did not know something about a situation. Because of this we are always going to make connections with our readings, each individual is unable to disconnect what they already knew about a given situation, therefor we are always going to connect certain things, therefor we all are going to take different things from any text that we ever read. Understanding the Yi Jing, helped me to realize this, in the second paragraph under the Chinese Point of View section, the text states, “A situation can be seen in two different ways, and have two totally opposite interpretations.” This part of the text proves that situations can be seen in different ways based on background knowledge and connections you make to the text. Reading this text personally made me realize all the different ways a given text can be perceived, and how information can be took differently.
Going forward with reading and learning, this text is going to help me a lot because it will allow me to know that I am going to be making connections, so the way I perceive a text may
