Diabetes is a chronic disease with the ability to be fatal to an individual. Diabetes occurs when the pancreas cannot produce insulin for the body. There are over 1 million people living with diabetes in Australia, with thousands of new diagnoses every year. (Shaw, 2012) There are two main types of diabetes; Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 diabetes. The purpose of this study is to research the disease Type 2 Diabetes and to discover whether it is being effectively treated and prevented in Merced County, California.
