Tutoring In The Writing Center

Nowadays every student has many way to go to tutoring. Tutoring in the writing center has many choices. The choices that tutor make in regard to these and other questions will shape the form and outcome of the tutoring session. This tutoring session helps students become self-determining through questioning, because the tutor should help students develop self – confidence and improve study skills. Before I start this class, my thinking was that the people who tutor someone or any subject. They usually sit down together and read the paper or kind of essay and tell them to which grammar mistake was and what materials to add and take out any kind of essay or assignment which make sense to help or improving in our essay. As a tutor I believe a writing center will be the best resource for students who need help with their writing. I have observed one main impression about students coming into the Writing Center: all of them are there to get help with their writing. It is an obvious statement but it provides a way of looking at student mentality before they sit down for a tutorial. Tutoring has been a positive experience for me, it has taught me to be less selfish with my time. I realize that this is what tutoring is all about - the small sacrifice of my time in order to help someone else. I took the time to help the student in my free time. Since I knew how good it felt to help others, tutoring has encouraged me to branch out to other forms of volunteering. I love meeting new student at the writing center who is truly excited to learn and write better. The tutor and student both are helping them communicate those ideas more clearly in their writing is tremendously rewarding--and I also learn a lot about a range of topics. Every time I work with a student in the Writing Center I learn something. Sometimes, I have realizations about my own writing, and sometimes the topic of a student's paper gives me ideas of my own. The exposure to so many different subjects because writer come from across all disciplines--is not only interesting, but helps round out my general knowledge. They can compete to see who is “best” they can work independently toward a goal without paying attention to other student, or they can work helpfully with a bestowed interest in each other’s learning as well as their own. Well, it’s depended for student who did not feel like they have learned or they have come too close to understanding. However, they are attracted with writing skills which is easy to write an assignment or essay anywhere. Usually, writer can bring in any kind of writing reflection papers, short or long essay, summaries, formal argument for any class or any subject of topics. This collaborative learning is a technique the tutor use to writer or student to impact learning in a positive way. But this discussion does not explain how collaborative learning actually works. Though these may be the areas where discussion of collaboration first appeared, it is more important to understand how the idea of collaborative learning became connected to tutoring. When, I was in tutor, I become gradually upset that students seemed to be having difficulty with the transition into writing at the college-level. Researchers looking into this problem decided that the help being offered to students was too similar to classroom learning.
