There are no real words to convey how inspiring and philosophical Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom is. Morrie’s narrative awakens something within you which makes you reflect on life you’ve lived, and to live that life to the fullest. It teaches an individual life long lessons and gives you the gift of viewing life and death differently.
In my group we discussed various areas in the first half of the book. One of my favorite quotes from the first half of the book is when Mitch recalls when Morrie told him, "So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep even when they're busy doing things they think are important. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning,” found on page 43.
I asked my group what they thought that Morrie meant by this, and how did they feel about the life they’ve lived. I noticed that our answers and our reflections were about the same. We determined what Morrie meant by that quotation is people live a routinized life, which is a never ending cycle never really acknowledging life itself. Have you learned any valuable lessons from it?” We all decided that in a way this book has made us see life different, that one bad day for us, is another person’s good day. A valuable lesson is not to be afraid of death but embrace it just like Morrie did. Since reading this book I have a distinct way of looking at thing, even the most negative things in my life I see as positive because I have the power to change them. Morrie’s lessons weren’t just meant for Mitch but they were lesson for all of us to acquire a knowledge
