TRUDY CHACON
Trudy Chacon, portray by Michelle Rodrigues, was a SecOps pilot for the RDA. Her primary task was to piloted a Samson that she used for transportation and for battle was flying sorties for science teams. She lived in Pandora when she first appeared in the movie and had already been serving for the RDA two years when she met Jake Sulley. Shortly after she met Jake she was thrust into leadership role in the take down of the RDA.
Trudy met Jake Sully soon after he arrived at Hell's Gate in 2154. One day the two along with Norm Spellman and Dr. Grace Augustine went on an expedition deep into a Pandoran forest. Trudy stayed behind with Lyle Wainfleet to guard the Samson and, when Jake was missing, she helped search for him. They

Disillusioned, after refusing to fire on Hometree her statement was “damn, and I was hoping for some sort of tactical plan that didn't involve martyrdom." Her statement showed that she was a leader because she had the ability to know that they need some type of stategical plan if they wanted to help the Na’vi. After hearing the Na'vi's seemingly suicidal plan to attack the RDA with bows and arrows. While discussing how to fight against the RDA. Trudy was a skilled pilot and flew a Samson aircraft, which she affectionately called her "baby" or "Rogue One". She piloted her Samson during the attack on the Tree of Souls, managing to inflict some damage on Colonel Quaritch's powerful Dragon Assault Ship before being overwhelmed and shot …show more content…
She exuded exemplary followership skills. She was an independent thinker because when she followed her instinct to abandon the RDA. She used critical thinking in her decisions when determine if she was doing the right thing when she was working for the RDA in the takeover of the Na’vi’s land. Her followship was active and engaged, motivated by the vision the Na’vi had about love they had for their sacred land then decide to stand against the RDA.
The type of followship role she had was being a player. “The new leader is one who commits people to action, who converts followers into leaders, and who may convert leaders into agents of change (Waren Bennis).”
Trudy brings the prisoners food, but pulls a gun on the guard and frees the three of them with the help of Max, a doctor in the Avatar program. This example shows that she had an innate leader in her because she motivated Max to conspire with her to free Jake, Dr. Augustine and Norm. As they are leaving, Jake tells Max to stay behind, as he needs someone he can trust on the inside. Trudy starts up her helicopter and is detected by Quaritch, who bursts out into the hanger and starts shooting. Her courageous acts to continue on fighting against the RDA.

The authors then go deeper than just leading; they speak of being a leader and growing other leaders. One of the greatest challenges leaders today face is training and developing new leaders. Jesus wanted those around him to succeed. He had vision, values, and purpose, he stated them clearly, and did all he could to see they were carried out. In the book Lead Like Jesus we read how Jesus empowered and gave ownership to those around him, concerned more with their success than his own. It highlights that Jesus is the greatest leadership role model of all time, that He mandated Hi...

As we progress though the novel, we a introduced to a variety of characters in the story like Rachel Turner
Although the theme of flight is seen throughout the book, for some characters it is even more. For many of the characters, including Kirsten and Tyler, flights are vital to explain character development. Tyler, who is the son of Arthur Leander, is interesting, because unlike most of the other flights of the book, his is away from normal “civilized” society and into disorder. In the book, he decides that the life that is agreed upon by almost all, where humanity must rebuild from the disaster that had occurred, was the wrong path- and that the correct one was an ideology where God had chosen the best to survive. Putting aside the many issues with his plans and beliefs, this is a great example of how an antagonist in a story rather than a protagonist
was brave to slap the dictator. She was stronger than him, and she was incredible.
The theory believes that a leader is a servant to those he or she leads. And that a leader should focus on serving others rather than being served. The servant leader creates an environment of trust and cooperation, which results in reciprocal service and ultimately higher performance. Much of Jesus’ approach to leadership used this model.
The character that will be focused on is Whip Whitaker in the movie Flight. Whip Whitaker is a male African-American, pilot that has no religious beliefs or spiritualism in the beginning of the film. Prior to his career with SouthJet Airlines, he was a pilot in the Navy. He is divorced with one son; in the beginning of the film he has a relationship with his co-worker, Katerina, and throughout the movie builds a new romantic relationship with Nicole. While he initially showed lack of faith throughout much of the movie, the change in Whip towards the end of the film demonstrates faith by facing the truth and allowing the higher power to be in control of the next events. Before admitting the truth in the hearing, he mutters “God help me” and proceeds to show integrity and courage despite knowing that the consequence for telling the truth will be jail time for him. He displays courage, valor, and expertise when he takes control of a crashing airplane and saves 96 out of 102 people on board the plane. When he finds out that Katerina as well as 5 other people have been killed, he shows toughness and resilience and is able to overcome the loss he experiences and the guilt he is ridden with. He is an experienced airplane pilot that is courageous, persistent, resilient, and at times, brutally honest. Whip’s coping mechanisms are denial, dissociation, acting out, displacement, and undoing. While he is going through an immensely tumultuous time, he displays resiliency and perseverance to overcome the legal ramifications of the airplane crash that he was piloting. Whip also displays kindness and courage when he rescues Nicole from her landlord that is attempting to beat her, without hesitation. He has diff...
Another author that has investigated the followership topic but asserts a few qualifications between her work and others is Kellerman. She characterizes her work as more descriptive than prescriptive as she considers there must be such a variety of variables impacting the followers behaviors that it is hard to be instructive. According to Kellerman (2008), there are two conceivable definitions about followers: “Followers can be defined by their rank: They are subordinates who have less power, authority, and influence then do their superiors”. And “followers can also be defined by their behavior: they go along with what someone else wants and intends”. Kellerman (2008) uses rank and behavior as determinants to characterize followers, focusing

Motivators, tweaked by persuasion, can be very powerful and lead to colossal good or catastrophic action. One must be ever mindful of one’s motivation for action and remain consistent with one’s commitments, ethics, and ethos.
