Kids nowadays are getting smarter and smarter as technology continues to improve and as the amount of content being taught in school increases. Even though they might feel good about getting a trophy or if it raises their self esteem maybe they don't know what the participation trophy truly means but they will start to think about what they did on the team to deserve that trophy.
