Trauma nursing is a rewarding career that is financially beneficial, allows you to work in high intensity situations, and is appropriate for people with a personality where they have the ability to remain calm in high stress situations. In trauma nursing a beginner is already making quite a bit of money while being able to do things such as saving people’s lives. It’s a job that involves working in situations where it depends on a person and their team to save a person and it’s important to be to stay calm and respond adequately to the situation. It is the individual's choice to obtain a nursing degree in either a two or four year university. For those trying to become a registered nurse an associate's degree (ADN) or bachelor's degree (BSN) in nursing is required. After completing a nursing program it is required to complete the NCLEX-RN in order to become licensed. It is recommended to go into a four year college because employers are going to be looking for those who are dedicated and have more experience/knowledge about the job. It is required to pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Way to further education include getting a masters or bachelors degree. It is also recommended to receive a bachelor's degree because there have a greater chance of being employed and the amount of pay can drastically increase. In order to become a trauma nurse it is required to be certified in basic life support (BLS), advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), and pediatric advanced life support (PALS) could possibly be required. Certifications that may be required depending on the location of where the place of employment include the Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and the Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC). Trauma nurses have the ability to become certified in flight-nursing and in order to do that it is required to get a Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) credential.
