Good and effective leaders provide guidance and directions to people they are leading to achieve a common goal. Effective leadership is built upon the capabilities of a leader rather than the believed natural traits. There are two major types of leadership styles which are transactional leadership and transformation leadership. Leadership theories include the great man theory, trait theory, behavioral theory and contingency theory. The effectiveness of an organization depends on three basic determinants which include Efficiency and process reliability, Human resource and relations, Innovation and adaptation to the environment. Transactional leaderships allows organizations to achieve their current objectives more systematically by linking job performance to valued rewards and by ensuring that the employees have resources to get their job done. Transformational leadership will result in high levels of consistency, assurance, trust, motivation, and performance in these new organizational environments.
